Draft Position Watch Thread Locked into #9 spot
Ill update this after every series. Realistically were probably not catching ATL, CIN, or MIN. Oakland post deadline probably is going to lose more too. As long as we are top 5 we should be good. The upcoming draft is very deep with college pitching and HS outfielders.

I don't see us getting any higher than 7th unfortunately and even that's not a given. I say we end up tied with the Angels at 9th and we get the tiebreaker.

I see us finishing somewhere in that 6-10 grouping.
The bullpen will be a big factor. I expect Thornburg to thrive at closer, but many close games are won and lost with guys who come in the 6th-8th innings. You'd think Torres can't continue being lights out and Knebel is another wild card, but bullpens without proven shut down arms can be so unpredictable.

Let the record show I never got worried until they swept the Pirates and still hadn't traded anyone except Hill. Still got 11 more consecutive games against the 4 worst teams in the NL but then it's a freakin' gauntlet. 19 at home, 27 on the road starting after a day off on the 15th. With the Rockies winning last night, only 6 (!) of those 46 games are against teams that are currently under .500. Last night would have been a nice loss and I had hopes of Braun going to the DL, but we got this.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Re: Draft Position Watch Thread Currently 10th
The Padres, Twins, and Angels strike me as teams that are still not an abomination right now. The Angels had an lol-worthy offense beyond Trout to open the year, but their pitching actually isn't terrible right now and they may keep winning as they have been of late with Skaggs throwing hard, Shoemaker, etc.
Twins got the opposite version of the luck they got last year (lucky last year, unlucky this year) but that offense is pretty potent right now and they are doing their best to screw up their own draft position.
Padres have some solid young players.
These teams could catch the Brewers. Hopefully we get throttled by the division down the stretch.

Yeah, we traded a bunch of talent but the problem is so did those ahead of us. Kind of a bummer. 9th is disappointing.
I'm guessing the same **** teams this year are going to be the same **** teams next year as well. Difference is the Brewers will be awful from the get go.

They are a pretty similar team. Schimpf has been hot with Jankowski and Dickerson as decent pieces but overall our roster is unfortunately probably better.

Yeah, I guess I pulled my narrative from before the trade deadline and wasn't thinking. Dickerson, Schimpf, and possibly Blash will be decent to finish out the year, though.

Really puts into perspective how much of a mess the Angels are in. Their only choice might be to trade Trout and eat millions and millions of dollars in pay roll.

Had a debate with RS on this months ago as their roster looked like the pile of trash that it is and he made a pretty good cause that you can't do it. You will probably never find a prospect package to match up with his value.

No youll never get equal value but if I was the Angels I would call Boston and ask Moncada, Benintendi, Devers, Groome, and one of the young outfielders they have. I dont see a way Boston passes on getting the best player in the game.

Bah. Thought I could use underscore to make it easier to process, but the way it displays doesn't line up with the way the text editor shows it.
