Ish took less to win a ring. It happens all the time.

Being pissed about getting paid $6 million a year seems like a pretty strange concept to me.

You can spend your life being pissed that maybe someone doing the same job as you gets paid more, or you can enjoy the fact that you make a f**k ton of money.

I personally don't see the difference between making all the money you'll ever need and making $10 million more than all the money you'll ever need. Of course, that assumes you don't plan on spending every penny you make as soon as you make it.

I'm inclined to think Ish is pretty happy about his first multiyear contract and financial security for life (if he's smart.)

Lin signed for 2x what Smith got. Delly got nearly 10 and I would argue he was underpaid as well. Either way, they both got $36 and $38 guaranteed which is still way more than $18.

Lin and Delly are almost universally considered more valuable than Ish. You can't just throw them into a pile because they're all backup point guards. Ish did very well for himself.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Not only is he now set for life on a 3 year deal, he has a role that will enable him to earn a lot more afterwards if he performs well.

If I were Ish I'd be happy.

He's already 28, I think this is his last long term contract for a while. He'll likely just get on by Ronnie Price like contracts after his tenure with ours.

31 is hardly the end of his career. He'll be able to lock down one more 3-4 year deal at that point.

I will compare Ish to Dellavedova this season. Backup PG was the most important position to fill and while Ish was fairly cheap Dellavedova wasn't that much more expensive. 6 mil vs. 9.6. Dellevedova is playing great for Australia in the Olympics right now and i would have preferred him because of his defense + 3 pt shooting.
Ish should be a way better playmaker and offensive threat and the whole 2nd unit should benefit from that. But if Delly continues to develop on offense he would have been a better fit longterm (he s younger than Ish too).

Yet one is most likely to start where as the other doesn't have much of a chance to supplant the starter (Jackson). Not just about the money peeps. It's also about opportunity for said player (Delly).

This is really an area we really cant discuss in depth as of yet. Back-up PG is something some players excel at. Delly, and Lin both wanted to start and/or play major roles so the Pistons were out.

Sessions? Dude I understand liking what a player brings, but I just dont think its what SVG wanted on the second unit. Ish is a playmaker and pass-first PG and also brings up and down sprinting to the second unit, something the team just didnt have last year. SVG got him for his drive and dish capabilities.

In a few short months we shall find out a hell of a lot though huh? Man im so excited for the season. Its not if we make the playoffs this year, but how high of a seed are we getting this time.

We'll I just think Sessions is a better player, Smith is a good passer and good playing with big guys but he isn't really good at scoring the ball. Session is a decent enough passer and miles better a creating for himself. The guys we signed on the bench still aren't the creating types except for maybe Boban.

They both got similar contracts and roles and both suck at defense. IMO he would of been a better option considering the type of player SVG went after.

Sessions is that type of player who makes you hate bb at some point.

Detroit wasn't getting Dellavedova for $9.6 million this season when he's starting in Milwaukee. That's a tough comparison to make.
