I agree and tbh, I don't recall any coach or front office describe not wanting to be a textbook treadmill team as simply and as openly as Watson has. It's always refreshing when coaches/front offices tell it like it is and it's especially reassuring when they clearly state wins for the sake of wins are not the priority when we're in this stage of our rebuild.

Watson may just be buttering us up and giving us lip service but man I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited to see how the Suns do this coming season. I hope for the team's sake that he's the real deal and will help turn the Suns into something special in a few years.

Priorities change during the season so seeing a change in our approach wouldn't surprise me but I can't remember the last time someone from a coaching or front office role came out and said they don't want meaningless wins. So for Watson to put that out there, it's a good sign that they are prioritising development.

I'm not sure if Watson can coach or not, but he's got some balls and integrity.

Looks like he won the Phoenix Suns job by convincing Sarver to not make playoffs!

I remember him talking mid year and saying current teams like GSW, Spurs, Clippers weren't our competition, it's Portland with Lillard and McCollum in 5 years.

Maybe Sarver is more convinced for rebuild because of Booker's popularity?

Greetings from a Bucks fan!

Can you plz tell me, if Telly can play as SF? Can he guard them? Actually is he an average defender?

Idk if this is the right topic to ask, but it seemed the most relevant and I didn't want to start a new one.

PS. My condolences about the Knight trade, but if you want to know we got screwed in that trade too. We got MCW instead of the LAL pick.

PS2: Booker ftw! 8-)

I wouldn't suggest he play SF. He can't actually guard anyone, let anyone SF's. He is a bad defender. He does attempt to rebound though.

He can't defend, so he can play SF or PF off the bench and go nuts on offense.

I think it's partially that, but also that he's starting to see that fans can be excited when we truly embrace a rebuild and have fun, likable new young players that fans can get excited about. He is probably excited about it as well and can see that the fans will enjoy watching them grow and that maybe striving to make the playoffs with too many old declining vets haven't really paid off for us in the past in any respect (getting fans to games or making playoffs or getting high picks that get fans excited).

Best if you just throw him into games when you need quick offense, or if you have a tight game and can hide him on defense, as well as surround him with defensive players. He's either absolutely hot or cold, so you'll know quickly whether to keep him out there.

Well supposedly Kidd loved him after coaching him on the Nets and he wanted to play for Kidd so Kidd likes what he has to offer. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I don't think he has any choice. There IS no quick fix available. He tried with the LMA signing and even pursuing LeBron. That was plan A, but it did not work. Plan B, the full rebuild is the only option left. Sarver is not stupid. He sees that.

Well, we could have thrown a bunch of money at some more vet free agents out there, but for once, we held back.

I could also see McD convincing Sarver that drafting two high ceiling guys would make for attractive trade chips for a big name while knowing that this is a rebuild move and he doesn't have any intention of trading Bender or Chriss.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.
