I remember having such hope for Erick Silva. The kid had everything, athleticism, well rounded skills, great hair. Just didn't have the gas tank or the IQ
His hair was never great.

With support of major sports names, new group forms to get UFC fighters unionized
The Professional Fighters Association (PFA) has been established with a goal to get collective bargaining for UFC athletes, it was announced Thursday in a press release. The PFA is hoping to get recognition of a fighters union through the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), the release stated. And the group has the support of many of the major sports unions, like the MLPBA and NFLPA.
"PFA will not only be a union of fighters, but it will be governed solely by fighters," the release said. "It is the fighters who will control their own futures."
The group is being led by longtime baseball agent Jeff Borris, labor attorney Lucas Middlebrook and economist Andrew Zimbalist. Borris once represented the likes of Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco and Rickey Henderson. Middlebrook, best known in the MMA space as Nick Diaz's lawyer, is counsel for the Major League Soccer referees union, NBA referees union and the unions for Southwest Airlines employees. Zimbalist is a highly regarded and oft-published sports economist.

That may be threadworthy. On Ariel's show on Monday alone, Benson Henderson said he had been in contact with Mark Hunt as well as Jon Fitch and Cung Le about forming a union.

Listening to this fight companion today. Arguing about whether wmma fighters can beat nfl players (or men in general) in fights. Ironic that Rogan doesn't think so given he once stated Ronda could beat male ufc fighters which is BY FAR more lolworthy.
Also, Rogan stating that Mighty Mouse couldn't beat up Ray Lewis (just the example he used) is mind-boggling to me. I would bet my house that Mouse would beat the f*ck out of any random athlete. If you think a guy is the A number one best fighter on the planet, but don't think they could win a fight against someone with zero fighting experience, then why even train? It just can't be that random.
Mouse would bounce random NFL player's head like a basketball, believe that.

Mouse is not beating up 6'4 250 pounders and such.
He's 5'3 lol, he couldn't even connect with their faces. That is such a rediculous size gap that lack of skill wouldn't be an issue. They would have 20 inch reach advantages, it would be near impossible for him to get inside to hit the guy without eating a shot that would rock him.
These guys aren't accountants either, their tough as ****. It's not like they haven't faced contact before.
Let me put it this way, do you think Mouse could beat Brock Lesnar if Lesnar stood with him the whole time? No chance in hell, and lesnar had as much striking experience as any other football guy would have if they came to the UFC.

Silly comparison. You realize Lesnar was a ufc hw champion and a division 1 national champion wrestler, right? How is that even a comparison to some random football dude who has never thrown a punch or shot a double or choked someone?
edit: Just realized you were talking about just striking, but this conversation is about fighting, not a boxing match. So its irrelevant imo.

No big lumbering football or basketball dude is landing one of those looping punches on Mouse. No chance.
If his reach is really an issue, absolute worst case scenario he drops for a quick heel hook, tears all his opponent's CLs and that would be game over. We aren't talking about Floyd Mayweather here, striking isn't the only consideration. I've seen really, really small guys run circles around big athletic ogres. Granted nobody even close to professional athlete athleticism, but the small guys obviously weren't close to Mouse technically or athletically either.
I also hate how they say Mouse is 125. That's disingenuous imo.

Mighty Mouse could take J.J. Watt in a standup fight via leg kicks. If it hits the ground (presumably by Mighty Mouse rolling in) he'd catch a submission. Training matters and Mighty Mouse isn't some guy who's trained for a couple of years and done amateur fights - he's a top level athlete and perhaps the most skilled fighter there is. If Royce could submit Dan Severn, Mighty Mouse could submit a lineman with no grappling training.
There was a discussion here if Mighty Mouse could beat some of the dreadful heavyweights at the bottom of the UFC, I don't think he could. But a random lineman? Sure.

For guys who disagree with this sentiment, I'm curious how big the ufc fighter has to be before they could beat up an nfl linebacker. Could Alvarez do it? Could Bisping? Stipe? lol.

It'd be funny to see the look on some super athlete's face as some 125er imanari rolled under them to rip their knee off their leg.

Go look at some pro athletes fight. Some of the NBA fights they are standing directly in front of each other, not moving their heads (aside from turning it and closing their eyes), and they still can't hit each other. Mighty mouse could kick ribs, legs, and land clean almost whenever he wants. Have you ever grappled with a guy who is way smaller than you, and also way better? It's almost more comfortable trying to roll with a guy with normal size.
I can't see these guys being able to land anything on Mouse, particularly not anything on the button.
