I can't argue with you if you're not a Walker fan, and would prefer cap space and an asset like a lottery pick. However, OKC is a small market and it will be very tough to recruit FAs to play there, especially if they're not competitive. Just look at Portland, who lost all of their UFAs 2years ago, but were able to get the most out of their RFAs this offseason.

From OKC's perspective, they're going to have to overpay their own RFAs from this point forward so they might as well acquire a player who can help them float for a few seasons. Walker is arguably a better immediate contributor than anything OKC can get from Boston, but most importantly by dealing for Walker, OKC would have him for 3 years.

PG - Waker(3yr) / Payne(3yr- RFA)
SG - Oladipo(1yr - RFA)
SF - Roberson(1yr - RFA)
PF - Illyasova(1yr - RFA) /Sabonis (rookie)
C - Adams(1yr -RFA)/Kanter (3yr)

Unless Boston is willing to part with Isiah Thomas, which is entirely possible but is less likely Westbrook is unwilling to agree to an extension before the deal, Charlotte is a team that could make an intriguing offer if they're willing to take the risk. For a franchise that has never landed a big time free agent, Charlotte should definitely consider the risk.

I just think that Walker isn't that special. I view him as a poor man's A.I. in many ways (shoot first, below average facilitating PG with worse handles and less speed & agility).

Batum is a much better barometer for his team's play than Kemba, i.e. the Hornets go as Batum goes. Kemba is mainly useful for the times when you need someone to ISO and get a decent shot up but those instances are (or at least should be) few and far in between.

Since Kemba's contract is pretty cheap, it's alright having him take up like 1/6-1/8 of the team cap. It's when he needs to re-up and would command $24mil+ per season that I'd happily wave byebye.

I think in an ideal setting Kemba is a 6th man on a contender. I don't think he'd settle for that though considering that he has been a starter and I'm sure sees himself as one.

He's not lifting a lotto team to a playoff status and he's not preventing below average teams from straight out tanking. I'd easily take Reggie Jackson over him.

I didn't realize this beforehand, but Cameron Payne had a late July surgery for a jones fracture, which should raise PG concerns for OKC. Regardless of what you think about Kemba, when you look at OKC as a team devoid of primary scoring options, I think the Kemba vs Isiah Thomas + draft pick debate can get a bit more intriguing. As a team devoid of those primary options, Kemba could be more valuable than a more balanced option, especially if Andre Roberson (not a good scoring option), Illyasova (inconsistent), and Adams (decent post game but primarily a cleanup guy) are the the team's other scoring options.

Isiah Thomas had a heckuva season in Boston, but is he any more of a starter in an ideal setting than Kemba Walker?

Those delusional ones still somehow think this is about them. OKC is merely re-signing him to trade him to the Celtics lol

Decent would be an understatement. Redick is shooting 44% from three in all 3 seasons with the Clippers. Get Redick here and we have our own Kyle Korver. We could actually make a solid pitch to Paul Millsap.

I've heard Redick's name a few times -- what's the theory behind why he'll sign in Brooklyn? He seems to love SoCal.

Well, he's good friends with Jeremy Lin so that relationship could help Marks' recruitment -JJ recently featured Lin on the Vertical Podcast

Let Kenny pitch to Milsap, overpay on Reddick. Could possibly work.

Lopez/Milsap/RHJ/Reddick/Lin would be a nice 5.

Kenny is the only reason Milsap would listen to our offer imo. If I'm Milsap though I'm probably seeing what contender wants me.

Lopez, Milsap, RHJ, Reddick, Lin with a decent bench is a playoff team. Maybe a low-seed, but I think a playoff-bound team.

They forgot Larkin's chasedown block on Jerian Grant (I still can't believe that happened)

Unless LAC blows up, I find it hard to believe that Redick would leave.

A perennial playoff contender in fantastic weather is hard to walk away from.

Larkin's hang time on that block was pretty awesome. IIRC he had the highest hang time at the draft combine.

While I like the JJ crossover, once I found out that he accidentally stepped on his foot which created the initial loss of balance, it lost the wow factor for me.

We'll see. They might have to sign a better SF, maybe not enough money to sign him back. Or we overpay him. Maybe he doesn't like Blake and Doc.

Anybody paying attention to the Olympics? France has a stacked team with Batum, Tony Parker, Diaw, Gobert but they got blowed out by Australia. Diaw, parker and Gelable were the only ones for France playing well, everyone else under performed. Australia was killing them with ball movement and Frnace couldn't keep up.

Bogut played a great all around game and had a few nice backdoor alley oops, Delly with 10 assists. Patty Mills 21 points and Aaron Baynes was bullying guys down low.

Yi Jianlian with 25 points against USA lol

Stein is reporting the Lakers are talking to Yi about a return to the NBA

Has Yi improved that much? He wasn't really impressive in any of the games i've seen him in thus far this summer.

Australia shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone, their starting 5 are NBA players.

Lakers finalizing deal with Yi for 8 million, good for him. Hope he can be a rotational player and is probably more suited to play backup Center minutes.

I think Australia is going to finals against USA, that team plays so hard and a lot of team work, they have a good coach over there. They play Bogan's Croatia team tonight so we will see how well Bogs do.

That little guy Campazzo for the Argentina team can ball, he reminds me of JJ Barea . He's bringing it to USA but he's been playing great this whole Olympics. That guy name Teodosic is also playing good for Serbia team.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
