Seems pretty adolescent to be changing up your twitter account like the way he is, but to each their own I guess. I've warmed to the thought of keeping Okafor more anyway, but I still like what Nerlens brings to the table. Guessing he's moved before the season starts.

Any interest in Ricky Rubio here? Asking for a friend.

Rubio would be a nice backup PG for this team, but that's it. He's not needed when Simmons or even Saric are on the court, and then if we get a guard like Dennis Smith/Markell Fultz/D'arron Fox, Rubio definitely wouldn't be needed....at least not as a starter.

I can't argue with this. I keep looking for a Noel/Okafor trade and keep coming up empty. Yet NO WAY the Sixers can keep all 3 centers into the season. Something's got to give (hence this thread I suppose).

There is quite a few places Noel makes sense. Maybe 1 or 2 places Okafor makes sense. Okafor really only fits Chicago. I would take Valentine and a future 1st for him in a heartbeat, but I don't think management wants to take that kind of backlash. Noel to Cleveland for Kevin Love as part of a 3 way makes sense. Noel to New Orleans, Lakers, Toronto, Portland or Golden State all make sense, but LA is probably ths only team of that group that has young players to send back.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Yes, I agree. I am not saying that several teams would not want Noel. I am just having a hard time finding a trade - knowing that Philly expects significant value back. I predict that the return for Noel is a couple of non-premium first round picks. Not what Philly wants, but I can't find a trade with a young guard(s) that Philly would want.
I am a Celtics fan and I like Noel. But I don't see a trade. Much like with other teams.

You keep repeating the same thing as if it was fact. Your idea of value, my idea of value and the 76ers idea of value aren't the same. We're guys on a Basketball forum who overvalue the players on our teams that we like. If you agree that there are many teams that would want Noel, then he has value, period. Just because you wouldn't trade your top draft picks or favorite players to a division rival, doesn't mean the player has less value.

Re: Where is Nerlens?
of course the Lakers got to be thinking long and hard after Mosgrov got hurt, again. rumors today about Okafor for Russell, of course. NYK, OKC and GSW sites also buzzing, but none of them got anything we need. still think we're carrying Noel into camp, but reality is starting to settle in, and we'll get the deal we want.

Re: Where is Nerlens?
Noel will be gone some point between now and the trade deadline to a team that will sign or match any offer. He doesn't like Philly and doesn't really want to be in Philly. I'd love to keep him but it is what it is. The Sixers are going to see that they get the best offer for Noel. I wouldn't be surprised if Okafor went too if a good offer comes along and they feel Embid can be healthy. Can't really max out 2 centers.

Just random hypothetically thinking, would either team 76ers/lakers trade Nerlens for the lakers pick to go unprotected next year and future pick swaps? Is it possible? I know Lakers owe a first to someone but not sure on details..?

Re: Where is Nerlens?
Actually now thinking about it is there any way they could trade noel to lakers for the La pick to go unprotected + pick swaps of 76ers choice. Its lopsided for philly if that trade went thru as said. Is there anyway if the pick that went unprotected conveyed that the lakers could have the option rescind the pick swaps?

I'm sure that it is possible, but what you are really saying is that the Sixers would be trading Noel for potentially nothing.
We have a good chance of getting the Lakers pick this year regardless, and trading them Noel would just increase the chances of getting it, so we would need something real in exchange.

Not even close. We may get the Lakers pick even without removing the pick protection. Lou and Swaggy provide nothing. You would need to include Russell in any deal with Noel or no deal.

Hence no chance of a deal - and Philly splits 48 minutes a night among 3 young centers. Asking for Russell is a complete non-starter.

You mean asking for Noel and not including Russell is a non-starter.

It's like you really believe that if you just keep saying Noel can be had for very little, then eventually the Celtics will get him for nothing. Oh man, I tried really hard to find a fair young guard for Noel but I can't so guess he'll just have to go to the Celtics for flotsam.

Wonder what is missing here to make a Nerlens to BOS, DAR to PHI, Avery Bradley to LAL deal work. Would think Luke Walton would love to get a defensive minded veteran to be his coach on the court. I'm sure BOS doesn't want to give him up but they'd have to really buy in to thinking Horford/Noel would work. Put their money where their mouths are with Marcus Smart/Terry Rozier as next men up.

Re: Where is Nerlens?
I continue to be perplexed by some of the statements made within this thread. First off, why can't Philly enter the season with all 3 big men? Sure, it's not ideal, but for as enticing as Embid looks in workout videos, he's as far from being a sure thing physically as anyone in the league. Even if he does hold up physically, he'll likely be on minute restrictions for a few months and won't play in back to back games. Just the same, Philly could use that opportunity (if Embid can stay healthy) to see how Okafor and/or Noel fit next to him and really determine which guy it makes more sense to trade, rather than hyphothesizing over which one fits better during the off-season. In that respect, perhaps holding all three guys into the season will wind up being the smartest non-move this team makes.
Next, when exactly did D. Russell become untouchable in LA? Not to mention, other than fan forums such as this, I don't recall hearing that Philly still maintained interest in him after draft night last year. Having a solid summer league does not erase what occurred in the actual season last year up until about March. Sure, I think his growth was stifled by Kobe, but he struggled enough on his own that he was said to be on trading block in February. That does not suggest that it was all Kobe. Thankfully for LA, Russell started playing better and gave the team hope that he wasn't a bad pick, but much like Okafor, he had a few issues off the court too. Thus, to suggest that he is untouchable or worth more than Noel to me is kind of laughable. Be that as it may, I can understand if LA has no interest in doing a Noel/Russell swap, but saying it's a non starter is amusing without overvaluing either player.
Moving on, there will be injuries that occur throughout the league, plus surprise teams that make playoff runs and are looking for one more piece at the trade deadline. Just because something doesn't appear obvious now does not mean it will not come into focus soon enough. I understand that that BC could very well panic and pull of a disappointing deal, but the suggestion that he has to make a deal before the season begins and that Philly is desperate seems a bit far fetched to me too. The only caveat to that would be if Noel himself is forcing BC's hand by not making it possible to bring him back.
