Not so obvious jersey choices
My buddy, who is a Jets fan, and I were talking about jerseys and who we would get. It ended up going in the direction of who you would get if you didn't get any obvious choices from that franchise, such as, for him, a Namath, Gastineau, Toon, Fitzpatrick, Marshall, etc. Basically, no stars. He said he'd want an Erik McMillan, Johnny "Lam" Jones or JoJo Townsell.
I had several:
Zeus Brown
Jim Harbaugh Yes, it's easy to forget that we have actually had both Harbaughs in some capacity
Jermaine Lewis-to go with Jamal and Ray. He took a kickoff back to immediately avenge the Giants only points in the Super Bowl.
Eric Green-huge TE who came and had a couple good years with us. I even liked him when he was a Steeler
Ryan Yarborough-guy who I remembered from Wyoming that I used way beyond his ability in NFL QB Club '97(?)
Deion Sanders #37 Only not an obvious choice because I don't think outside of Raven fandom many people remember that he came out of retirement to play with us.

You can't go wrong with the kicker, unless he misses an important kick and becomes the goat of your franchise a la Scott Norwood. I have to credit Bills fans who never demonized him the way a-hole Red Sox fans demonized Buckner.

Re: Not so obvious jersey choices
Don't know if it's not an obvious choice or not because he went to a pro bowl for us and was the unquestioned leader of our defense, but I feel like he's not known well outside of Houston
Demeco Ryans (I actually have that jersey)
for the saints (since I usually make a game every year or 2)
Kyle turley
Deuce mccalister
Darren sharper (just kidding)

With all the attention that Watt gets, I'd call it a "sleeper pick". My guess is that Clowney jerseys have outsold Ryans also.

I'd go with Lorenzo Neal who IMO is the best FB in football history and a big part of all the success that LT had in SD.
Another name would be Jamal Williams who was underrated and just an absolutely clog in the middle. Chargers still haven't found anyone who is even close to as good as him to take over the NT position. It's been a revolving door at that position since the J-Wall days.

Re: Not so obvious jersey choices
I've always liked kicker/punter jerseys. I would love a John Kasay jersey. I think a throwback Dan Morgan jersey would be pretty sweet too as a Panthers fan. I'm surprised throwback NFL jerseys aren't more popular, I personally love them.

Re: Not so obvious jersey choices
I dig the non obvious jerseys, everyone and their mama has one of the qb, rd or top WR... Someone on defense would be good, or a current player throwback like the Dallas thanksgiving jerseys from the early 60s.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Re: Not so obvious jersey choices
Harbaugh played for multiple teams.
Anyway, I think I'd try and find an old Oilers jersey or ones on teams that don't exist any more. I know technically they do. I suppose Earl Campbell and Warren Moon would be obvious so maybe someone like Dave Casper.
As for Chargers, I saw a guy at a sports bar here with an Alworth jersey once. That was cool. I'd probably get one from a player many maybe don't remember like Chuck Muncie.
He's the only Charger I recall ever wearing sunglasses. Not sure if many on other teams did.

If you were thinking Houston Oilers AND wanted to have possibly THE coolest jersey AND wanted it to be a less obvious player choice, might I recommend Ken Burrough's "00" jersey?

Re: Not so obvious jersey choices
I have 10 past Cowboy throwback jerseys in storage. Bob Lilly, Mel Renfro, Chuck Howley,Ralpn Neely, Lee Roy Jordan, Rayfield Wright, Drew Pearson,Tony Dorsett and a Randy White when the Cowboy road uniforms were royal instead of the Navy we've worn since 1982. I have a few more of the modern players, but these I cherish the most.
