Peter Feigin was on the Big Show today and said somethings of note...
* The Arena will be open before the 18/19 season. Substantial completion in late July/August. some events before Basketball.
* They are starting the foundation on the Practice facility, they are ahead of schedule on it.
* The Arena is entirely cleared. In 3 weeks there should be 500 people on the site.
* 10,000 lower bowl seats in the arena.
* In November Season ticket holders and Tenured season tickets will have first rights on tickets.
* They are 40% sold out on suites in only 3 weeks.
* 5 levels in the new arena and every level has a club.
* Said the arena will be open concourse like the one in Pittsburgh.
* Experimental Center will open in the next couple of weeks (You can experience the arena, seats, concourse etc..)
* 1 1/2 inch extra width in the seats and a higher pitch so you will have more room for your legs to hang down.
* BC will start to be demolished within 6 months of the new arena going up.
* A new Hotel will be built on that land.
* 3 cities in the final bid for the d-league team, they went back to the cities to "put pen to paper" Want to make a decision before the NBA season starts. Said he's a big fan of Oshkosh.....
* Said Ray Allen would like to be a Buck or a Celtic. He's been talking to John Hammond... (Went on to praise Ray, provides veteran leadership in the locker room etc...)

Somehow the Empire State Building was built in 14 months. That must have been crazy around the clock type stuff.
Buildings today are much more complex than they were back then.
And before someone chimes in, no it really doesn't have to do with unions.
I feel like there is still a lot more to be done on a 102 story building.

Ya that's crazy, maybe it has to do with the hoops they need to jump through now? Codes are much tighter now than they used to be. Other than that, who knows

At least now when you get priced gouged for parking, you can have a warm walk.

See, I like the skywalk, but I think it would have been smarter if that walk was lined with shops/restaurants or something. Maybe that's too ambitious, but in my mind, I was imagining it looking a bit more like a walkway in an airport - a bar here, a restaurant there, a Bucks shop, etc. Something to get people to the arena earlier and convince them to stay later.

That was always my thought, connect everything in the new area with skywalks. Park, eat, drink, go to the game, etc... Maybe that will still be in the plans but from what I understand this will be the one and only skywalk.

Not nearly enough dirty, slushy snow on the ground and people running to the arena in parkas dodging traffic.

Some good pics of the MECCA being restored/upgraded by UWM. They are renovating the lobby floor which has been hidden for years.

The Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin health network will develop a medical office building next to the new Milwaukee Bucks training facility in downtown's Park East strip.
The 37,000-square-foot building will be west of N. 6th St. and south of W. McKinley Ave., and will be called the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin McKinley Health Center, it was announced Friday.
That clinic will provide medical services for nearby residents. It amounts to a major private investment in the Park East strip, which was created on downtown's northern edge when the former Park East Freeway was demolished several years ago.
Also, the new Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Science Center will be part of the future Bucks practice and training facility, which is being built west of N. 6th St. and north of W. Juneau Ave. The $30 million privately financed training facility, which will be just south of the clinic, is to open in August 2017. It will replace the team's current facility at the Archbishop Cousins Center, in St. Francis.
The sports science center will combine the basketball club's medical team with Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin doctors and researchers to provide health care for the club's players.
"Today’s announcement is a reflection of the bold vision we share with our partners at Froedtert & MCW for how to build a healthier and more vibrant community in Milwaukee,” Bucks President Peter Feigin said in a statement.
“We are proud to bring a new health center to people who live in this area and honored to offer Froedtert & MCW’s deep expertise in medical care and research to both the community and the Bucks," said Cathy Jacobson, Froedtert Health president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
The McKinley Health Center will be Wauwatosa-based Froedtert & Medical College Wisconsin's first Milwaukee clinic to offer a wide range of services and will likely be used mainly by downtown and near north side residents. The health care network operates several similar clinics throughout the Milwaukee area and is developing a 104,300-square-foot facility at Oak Creek's Drexel Town Square mixed-use project.
The downtown clinic will offer primary care, orthopedic, sports medicine and some specialty care as well as physical therapy, rehabilitation, imaging and laboratory services.
Meanwhile, the sports science center will be a hub for athletic performance research conducted by the Bucks and Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin, including sports medicine and injury prevention research.
The training center also will be a destination for community-based athletic camps, coach training and sports education.
Last month, the Bucks and Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin launched their partnership by unveiling plans to create the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Learning Center inside Carmen High School of Science & Technology’s northwest campus, 5496 N. 72nd St.
That program will train more than 300 students and adults from the surrounding neighborhood over the next five years for careers in the medical and information technology fields.
The partnership will extend to the National Basketball Association's annual Fit Week campaign to encourage active, healthy lifestyles. The two organizations also will work together on a “Shoot Down Cancer” fundraising event at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in September.
The future Bucks arena is under construction just north of the Bradley Center and will open by fall 2018. The arena's parking structure is being built between W. Juneau and W. McKinley avenues, east of N. 6th St.
