Olympic Basketball Thread
Kinda late to the game but I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a thread to discuss the games in. We've got quite a few current and former players playing.

Mills and Australia in general have looked really good so far. Patty's been shooting and scoring at will.

Pau's being too inconsistent, excellent in game 1 and 4, but atrocious in game 2 and 3. Besides that, he's averaging 19'5 - 7'8 - 2'5 - 2 on below 30 min per game I think.
Don't have a idea how Parker is playing, hope he look somehow more energic.
I think that this tourbament is closer than whas thought at beggining.

When this account gets more "And1"s than posts written ...then my life will be complete. And maybe it will be the right time to hang it up. (Achieved on 2017-2018 season)...but still here.

Re: Olympic Basketball Thread
Mills shooting was pretty poor from deep for the first couple games but he is back on track. Getting points in close too, which is impressive. But he still can't dribble under pressure and will never be a starter in the NBA because of it.
And seeing Bogut makes me dream of what could have been if we had snagged him instead of Dallas. He quietly goes about his business in short spurts as good as any big man in the game. As athletic as I've seen him since his younger days too, which is surprising given he isn't 100%.
Also sad to see how solid Baynes has become. I dare say he would have been starting for us this year in that form.

Good call on Mills. You hit it right on the head why he cannot be an NBA starter. But we already know what he is and all we need him to do is score more consistently like he did in 2014.

Has Bogut ever been 100%? That's one of the reasons I didn't want him. I mean, he would be a great guy to have at center but not if you mean instead of Gasol. He is just injured way too much. You could make an argument that him missing the last 2 games in the finals cost the Warriors a championship this year.

I agree here. He would be starting for us if he was still here but I still don't think he's the kind of player that can log heavy minutes in an NBA game. His weaknesses would be far too glaring and taken advantage of. He's another one of those guys that is effective only in short spurts off the bench. Plus we would be paying him at least 6-7 million a year instead of the 3 million we are paying Dedmon.

Spain's really starting to round into form. They looked awful early on now they look like a legit medal contender.

That Spain Australia game was really something. Both Patty and Pau had amazing games.

While I'm glad they are playing well, I also hope playing all summer doesn't hold them back this upcoming season. I'm not as against it as I used to be seeing how emotional Manu and TP were about it but I'm still a little selfish about saving it for the Spurs

Re: Olympic Basketball Thread
I still have to disagree on Mills.
He showed more than ever during this campaign that he can't handle the ball well enough under pressure and other than pull-ups, really struggles shooting his jumpers off he dribble.
Sure if he gets back to his championship form he is still very valuable in that same role but some people (albeit not in this board) are suggesting his role increase or even becoming a starter, which just wouldn't work.
Agree on Pau though, he looked very solid.
