A looming trade on the way?

Post#1 » by DS17 » Wed Aug 17, 2016 6:07 pm

With the latest signing, I can't help but beleive that there is a trade coming; and with the two draft picks we got from the calderone trade, we can sweeten a deal more and get a decent player.

My guess is; Julius randle, Tarik black, and perhaps Ingram will be on the trading block (Ingram isn't even signed yet lol)

What's difficult to understand?

Big man depth:

Mozgov/Black/Zubac
Randle/Nance

Tarik Black and Zubac are young and inexperienced.

Randle and Nance have only played one season.

None of them are proven shooters. This signing doesn't have to be a sign of anything, but the Lakers wanted a big who can also spread the floor.

Don't make this harder than it has to be.

Zubac should be playing with the D-fenders getting all the playing time he can get.

There's a reason why he doesn't play in the NBA anymore, well the past few years. He's a major bust and provides very little at the NBA level.

Tarik Black is 24 years old and entering year 3. How much experience does he need to get a damn shot?

If Tarik is the player we fans think he is and if we take Luke at his word that Tarik will get a fair shot, then there should be no issue in Tarik outplaying Yi and getting the pt many hope he finally gets.

I don't see looming trade. Tarik can't even be traded since he hasn't even signed yet.

However, the 8m deal is around the amount of space that we have under the cap after renouncing everyone who's not coming back.

The good thing about this deal is that after this, we can officially sign Ingram and Tarik and call it a summer.

The Nick young buyout should happen after the August deadline so that we can stretch the last year over 3 years instead of stretching 2 years over 5. Will give us more space the following years that way.

I keep getting the vibes that we're not going to cut Nick. I think a lot of the reporting on that has been more about people drawing that conclusion, and less about the facts on the ground.

That plus Ingram/Brown are going to be super raw, and Deng might not be tops at the position we're going to be a little thin there...plus Nick in a system like the one we're going to implement is as good as a fit as he's ever going to be. I think Luke might be a good coach for him.

Agree, Nick ain't getting cut he is getting at least 1 more year under Walton to prove himself at least.

Probably will see trades midseason or next summer. However, don't think any of the younger kids are getting traded before than.

Black will play, and be in the starting lineup, only when Mozgov gets injured.

It's not fair to expect him to beat out Yi. Yi will play to make things easier for guys who want to drive. If Black wants minutes, he'll have to gun for a chunk of Mozgov's minutes.

As it stands, Black is a really good, IMO, third string center. He, Mozgov, and Zubac are wildly similar to Ezeli, Bogut, and Speights in their roles.

I went back and looked at it from an optimistic POV. From what I've been hearing Yi has gotten better since his NBA stint and doesn't come with the next Yao Ming hype baggage that he had to deal with earlier.

If he can hit 3s at a solid clip, obviously has solid athleticism for a 7 footer and can play smart team ball he can help the team. He's never SUCKED. We can think of a lot of guys on teams right now that suck.

The Lakers are going to try and buy Nick out. He was untradable and when you can't trade a player the only think left is a buyout. It's either a buyout or they stretch him which I doubt they'd want to do that because it counts against the cap.

negotiated buyouts count against the cap as well (for whatever is negotiated)

stretching is just one form of buyout, so is waiving
