Pre-season games are at unusual locations and sometimes with some quirks to them; like the 3 day trip to LA this year. Not saying I'm dissatisfied with the Nuggets schedule. I'm not sure it matters too much and playing in Lincoln, NE is nice for the folk there. I doubt pre-season games sell out anywhere.
Do teams select their own schedule? Location?
Does the league do this?

I have nothing to base this upon, but I believe the team GM's set up the preseason.

Re: How are pre-season schedules built?
I sorta' thought so and that makes sense. Why would the league care? No doubt there are certain guidelines in terms of numbers and such but who they play and where??? Who cares? Even if they played all of their pre-season games at home, even the Warriors probably wouldn't be able to sell out the arena unless they offered some ridiculous discounts/give aways.
