Compile a list of the top 10 players ever. All factors should be included.

Depends who you ask. For me presently it goes:

1. Jordan
2. Kareem
**am waffling a touch recently; giving serious consideration to moving Kareem to #1
3. Lebron
4. Duncan
5. Russell
6/7. Wilt/Shaq (I go back and forth on the order)
8. Magic
9/10. Bird/Olajuwon (usually have Bird at #9, though waffle a bit there, too)

And 1'd because you have Karl (and to a lesser extent, KG) in your top 10. I think if I was asked to create an all-time list right now, I would also have Malone in my top 10. Pretty brave to have Karl over Magic and Bird, but I can easily see why.

I haven't seen a top 10 list with Karl Malone on it in a LONG time, so it's refreshing to see someone who is really high on him. Honestly I don't think he gets his due.

Kareem/Russell/Jordan/Wilt

Duncan/Hakeem/Shaq/Mikan

Magic/Bird/Lebron/Kobe

For now .

This is coming from my calculations , based on impacts of the careers .

1. Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Hakeem
4. Shaq
5. Lebron
6. Magic
7. Duncan
8. Bird
9. Kobe
10. Garnett

·Hakeem and Shaq are interchangeable.
·Lebron might surpass Hakeem and Shaq this season.
·I can see Magic as high as 3rd.
·I can't see Bird/Kobe/Garnett higher.
·I don't rank Russell, Wilt, West, Oscar, Erving.

What is your rationale for having Iverson and Maravich so high? LeBron, Duncan, Shaq, and KG have all had longer careers, peaked higher, stronger primes (both 5 and 10 year), and won more.

Anyways, for my list.

1a. Michael Jordan
1b. Kareem
3. LeBron James
4. Tim Duncan
5. Kevin Garnett
6. Bill Russell
7. Shaquille O'neal
8. Wilt Chamberlain
9. Hakeem Olajuwon
10. Magic Johnson

I flip flop with MJ and Kareem, sometimes Russell is 4th sometimes he is 6th, Shaq/Wilt are very interchangeable, and my #10 is always changing. I recently have been favoring two-way players a lot more (Reasons for no bird, Magic at 10, and Russell at 6 instead of top 3/4). My list is always evolving, as I am always changing how I value and view things. I believe we should talk about our top 10 lists to get a better understanding of what people value, and why they do so.

Did you just pick random names out of a hat or something?

The problem with having Malone in the top 10 is that he's probably the worst playoff performer among the guys we usually see in top 20. I can see stronger top 10 cases for Drob, Oscar and Kobe.

He's one of the best regular season performers ever, though (arguably top 5, taking his amazing longevity into account). You know, about 85-90% in a career of every player, consists of regular season games...
