Week 1 game thread: Raiders @ Saints

Post#1 » by Twinkie defense » Sun Sep 11, 2016 4:12 pm

Look for something new in the secondary with the Raiders facing Brees and Joseph struggling to find his groove.

On offense, Raiders will see what their full complement of backs can do behind the League's most expensive line, and give Walford a heavy dose of the rock.

Sean Smith was terrible on that long reception - no vision on the ball

Down our starting and backup RTs...

Going against Brees, but Smith and DJ have been weak links in the secondary... Saints punted just once in the first half :/

Raiders offense is going to need some explosiveness, pile some points on the board, to pull this one out.

Yeah, hopefully we can bounce back in this 2nd half. Gotta get pressure on Brees, early & often & on the flip side keep Carr
protected(isn't that why we upgraded the Oline?).

Also get the running game going more, diversify the offence, imo.

Looks like Feliciano to guard, Osemele to LT, Penn to RT

Ballsy! Credit to the playcall, Carr, and Crabtree

Raiders win! Wow that was def sloppy, not sure if we deserved to win that game(#realtalk). But I will certainly take it!

The D# needs to get more polished. Glad the running game showed up a bit, but we def need to balance passing/rushing more imo.

A win is a win is a win so though. GO RAIDERS GO! :P! :)! :D!

I'll give Shaun Smith a pass today, opener vs. Brees, but man he was terrible.

Patchwork line finished up well!

man, what a game. can't believe Del Rio went for 2 with 47 seconds to go and make it!

as for Sean Smith, and practically our secondary as a whole, appears better suited against big recievers, and was not agile enough to keep up with the likes of Cooks. Brees looked like the vintage Brees, and with that reciever crew they looked like the "greatest show on turf" Rams. good for him. now go crush the Chargers. Chiefs, and Broncos later in the season.
ehhhhh f it.

oh and I think Jalen Richard might be the best back we have, although all 3 bring something different to the table. Murry reminds me of Eddie George but Jalen looks little bit like Barry Sanders and a little bit like Marshall Faulk. it was inspiring to watch Jalen run that 70 plus run while looking up into the stands rather than the endzone. he must had an out of body experience.
ehhhhh f it.

How about Richard, undrafted rookie FA, first touch takes it 75 to the house! I can see what they've been hyping about him all summer

Lesson for Reggie McKenzie.

The Nickel Corner is on the field a lot in this day and age. It's not the "backup corner" spot it used to be in years past. Another corner at some point in the 2017 draft is important.

That said, I thought Hayden was solid outside of those 2 phantom calls.

on the bench, I assume. McGill played awful a lot. once Karl Joseph is healthy I am sure it will start to look different.

but you did see that both Sean and Hayden looked outmatched against Cooks and Thomas. we were not quick enough in the secondary. but more so than injured comrads in the secondary, the biggest fault may lie within the lackadasical front line. Mack was missing in action most of the night and after that first fumble causing sack, Irvin was often invisible as well. we have got to do a better job at the trenches.
ehhhhh f it.
