My guess is he makes an All-Pro team, probably 2nd team. Gonna look like a good deal come January '17.

Rodgers blind side is protected for the foreseeable future.

Yuck. Bakh is not terrible but certainly an area I'd hoped they'd want to upgrade. Yikes that's too much money.

Figured the 24 y.o. left tackle entering his 4th year of starting would be the top priority.

So do they plan on making Spriggs the future RT or moving him to guard? I hope we extend Lang.

Bulaga is signed through 2019. My guess is for this year and at least another one, Spriggs backs up both tackle spots. Sounds like they are talking to Lang. If they extend him, that would leave us with Spriggs, Murphy, and Taylor as our bench OL when we are healthy. I'd be good with that. I doubt Spriggs ever plays in the interior though, that isn't his game.

I do agree this contract was pretty hefty though.

I'm good with it too. Money for tackles isn't exactly cheap. I'd get Lang extended next.

Its a little higher than i expected but as a 24 year old LT with as much starting experience as he has some other team would made a huge offer this spring.

As far a spriggs goes i imagine they assess bulaga this year and if he's slipping he could be a cap casualty or moved to guard. If hes good then maybe they just keep spriggs as the swing tackle a second season. Tackle isnt a bad place to have some depth.

I was expecting $45M over 4 years but its not a terrible deal.

He hasn't missed many games. And he's still young, only 24.

I honestly hate this deal. LTs aren't cheap or easy to find and Bakhtiari is a solid player at the position put paying a guy who is just solid that much money is a bad move when you just traded up to nab a tackle high in the draft.

I want no part of trying Spriggs at Guard right now but I suppose it's probably a better idea though then the idea of paying a guy 10 million a year to do it, when he's never played the position either, which is what we'll be doing of the plan is to slide Bulaga down.

Really we didn't even get him at a discount for signing him early. This is the type of money he would've got on the open market. This is an overpay for a solid player that'll now be making Pro Bowl level cash. This is money that we didn't need to spend on a average player and we payed him a premium price in order to do it early. It's a bad move.

Think of it it like this. We locked him up early in order to make him the 3rd highest paid LT in the league. How is that defensible for an average player?

Assuming it's an extension to his current deal and they dumped some of the money into this year it's 5 years maxing out at 51 mil. That aint bad for a left tackle and we can thank Josh Sitton for this deal.

Not sure how to feel about this one. On one hand, protecting Rodgers is a must. On the other hand, Bakh was called for 7 holding penalties last season. 7!

By comparison, Jermon Bushrod was called for two.
Joe Thomas was called for one.
Jason Peters was called for one.
King Dunlap was called for one.
Branden Albert was called for zero.

Even Tyron Smith, who also has a rep for holding, was only called for five and usually averages 3-4 a season.

Those holding penalties are drive killers, and make me wonder whether he's actually worth that kind of money.

Maybe they expect him to move from average LT to very good LT. If he doesn't this is an overpay.

This deal makes him the 3rd highest paid LT in the league. There's no spinning this as a bargain for slightly above average player.

Even if he improves to being a very good LT this is an overpay. We just payed him like an elite LT

Some of that money will probably be paid out this year. We have $16M of cap room.

He needs to cut down on the holding penalties but overall i think hes one of the best pass blocking lts in the nfl. As a passing team thats a big deal.

Another reason i like this deal more than some is i think bulaga is a little overrated, has a beat up body and is on the downturn of his career. So i like the thought of spriggs being his replacement in a year or two than baks replacement next year.
