They skip Dickey and good things happen. Go figure :)
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Two much stress. I expected the guy Benoit walked to score the moment he didn't get that strike 3 call from the ump. And I had another terrible feeling whe Osuna celebrated early and lost his concentration. It doesn't take much to win or lose a close game in September.

Was at the dome tonight. Great Monday crowd and a solid W. Great to see Ez contribute in a big way.

Def need to keep this going while we've got weaker opposition.

Agreed. His energy and enthusiasm is welcome to me. He feeds off the crowd and his teammates and performs as a result.

Apparently Russ tried to compliment him for a well-hit ball, which Souza took as sarcasm and had some choice words. Tulo then came in and started chirping at Souza who fired back and got riled up before Russ cleared the air and they went their separate ways. A whole bunch of nothing.

Pretty clutch HR by Zeke tonight. Too bad Boston thwomped Baltimore. Onto the next.

The fake tough guy routine in baseball has to be my least favourite aspect of the sport. Having the benches all clear at a casual walking pace is stupid grandstanding

I think the past 2 games have shown some pretty good signs. Yesterdays was just some **** pitching (REALLY ****)...but the pitching has been great all year. We can do this!

For sure anything could happen and they could still win the division. People tend to treat both bad streaks and good streaks like they're going to last forever. The MLB season is long and while it's unfortunate that the Jays haven't played well lately, they're still in excellent shape. Nothing is wrong that a few decent starts by the staff can't fix.

Certainly true. Better that this happened at the start of the month rather than the end (assuming the team is in a similar spot in the standings). Finding a way to sweep the Rays would go a very long way to boosting my confidence in the team. Every game just seems really tenuous right now.

I was shocked that Zeke hit got out, oppo just over the fence. But we deserve some of that kind of luck.
That's what she said.

So now we need Balty to win their next two, while we simultaneously beat the Rays.

Leaving the bench/bullpen = automatic suspension. Problem solved. Baseball simply wants this kind of nonsense to continue.

I'll take a Boston sweep. Not that the WC is great but playoffs are important and that Texas is your likely opponent isn't a bad thing.

So true. Every other team sport has put a stop to this except MLB. And it's usually over absolutely ridiculous stuff.

So in other words, the brawl in Texas should have been the entire Rangers starting line up vs Bautista? That's what it would have been if the Jays didn't leave the bench.

While this is a good point you could put some other parameters out there such as leaving your position or being the 3rd man in a fight leading to a lengthy suspension. But you're right, the other team sports generally have the same number of players from each side on the field/ice/court during any altercation.

Steven Souza Jr. explains the miscommunication between Russ Martin, Troy Tulowitzki, and himself at the end of the game, which caused both benches to clear.

Souza: "Tulo said unnecessary things, but no hard feelings."
