Id like to see:

Miocic - Cain
Werdum - Rothwell
Overeem- Barnett
JDS - Lewis

Let's say they make Stipe/Cain and Stipe wins, is he the best HW ever?

His resume in this hypothetical: Cain, Overeem, Werdum, Arlovski, Hunt (gotta be the best run ever, right?).

Other "name" guys he's beaten: Maldanado, Gonzaga, Nelson, del Rosario, Beltran

I know the last 5 or 6 years haven't helped Fedor at all, but he's still easily the #1 all-time HW in my eyes. Even if Stipe notches a win over Cain. Going 10 years and 30+ fights without losing in the HW division is insane. Plus, the average age of Stipe's competition has to be near 40.

Fair enough. Would he jump Cain/Werdum though?

The average age of Cain's competition has to be whatever the average age of JDS and Bigfoot is.

2 title defenses and wins over both Werdum and Cain, it'd be tricky to argue either one over Stipe, especially Cain (Werdum at least has a longer resume and win over Fedor).

If it wasn't for the Sruave loss, I might put Stipe over Cain now.

My whole point is just to show how ridiculous HW is in general. My understanding is that if Stipe wins one more fight, he will have tied the record for most title defenses lol.

Losing to Stefan Struve automatically DQs you from that discussion.

I think that was pre "leaking heart" Struve although it could well have been post "broken jaw" Struve.

It was Struve's last fight before Hunt broke his jaw, and his heart issues where after the Hunt fight according to wikipedia.

Is there any greater indictment of the HW division than the idea of Stipe Miocic being the greatest of all time?

Lol, what other division could have a part time mma fighter as their champion? Obviously some of these guys get token roles in movies or do some stuff with fox or whatever, but could you even imagine a Dominic Cruz or a Tyron Woodley or whoever being a full-time policeman or fireman?

It seems like every heavyweight becomes the GOAT since whoever holds the belt is the current GOAT lol.
