Wow. I really did not remember that Jeff Fisher was held in such high regard just a few years ago.

I feel Sean Peyton is just as good as any coach in the NFL today. Some coaches never get the talent or best situation at times. Hard to say who is the best. Hard to not put Bellichick up there as well.

Andy Reid is very consistent. Turned Philly into a winner. They haven't won much since he left. His teams always seem to be in the mix. I think after BB, Pete & Arians, its really tough to gauge honestly. If you base it off Super Bowls & playoff wins, then Belichick is clearly at the top. John Harbaugh usually has the Ravens in a good spot. Tomlin? Is he really a top notch coach? Or does it have more to do with Big Ben & the team having sustained success? Sean Payton? Mike McCarthy, etc.?

Ranking coaches is very tough. My list is highly subjective , mostly a mix of accomplishments and who I'd feel comfortable with making decisions in a close game.

Very tough to gauge some of the newer and/or first year coaches. Didn't want to punish them too much for simply not having HC experience. I also didn't want to rank them solely on accomplishments and SB's cause that'd be boring.

I don't disagree with you at all, it just seems like people usually undervalue him so I was surprised to see him so high on a list. It's pretty remarkable how much he's done with how little he's had IMO.

What you say about Tomlin you could also say about Belichick. He didn't do too much before he had Brady. He did pretty well the year without him and they won the other night, but I think Brady makes a huge difference. If he had to coach a team with a bottom 15 or 10 qb, would he still be as successful?

I imagine he would be pretty successful, and he's become a better coach over the years but much like Popovich, he started about the same time a franchise cornerstone (and one of the best players ever) was in place.

I think Tomlin is a really good coach. Definitely ahead of Reid. I do think the top 4 are all pretty close. Almost a toss up imo.

I guess he had a winning record that year, but didn't make the playoffs. Lost the division to the Dolphins, led by the almighty Chad Pennington.

Lol @ that Giants fan who said every coach in the league is better than Coughlin the September before his Giants pull off one of the biggest surprise wins in Super Bowl history.
I'm not feeling the brain power right now to contribute a comprehensive list, but Belichick is the gold standard by far.
I will add that I heard on Colin Cowherd recently a quote by Bill Walsh about there being two kinds of coaches in the NFL. There are coaches and there are gym teachers. Keeping that in mind really clarifies and galvanizes your perspective of guys. I might just go down the list and call coach/gym teacher on all 32 instead of trying to rank them which is almost impossible.
Jeff Fisher sucks. It really feels good to say it.

I'm just going to say on behalf of my Redskins fan buddies that Jay Gruden belongs at the bottom of this list for the foreseeable future. He sucks. Although moving Rex Ryan from the bottom would be a terrible injustice.
