14:09 – There’s no pressure (playing against the Lakers) because I grew up in San Francisco. When you’re in SF, in northern California, and southern California, there’s a huge rivalry. So growing up, I’ve always been Warriors, Warriors, Warriors (fan). I couldn’t cheer for the Lakers. There’s such a huge rivalry in California. Since I was a kid, I never liked the Lakers. I didn’t have a car (in NYC), so I rode in a taxi. There are TVs in NYC taxis, so I was listening to music and saw myself (on the TV) and was like “huh?” When I heard (Kobe say what he said), I was like “Oh really?” I got really mad. So I told myself, I’m going to be very, very aggressive today. I’m going to keep shooting.

So, he sees an elite star overlook his small emergence and gets angry about it. Finishes with 38/7/4 on 23 shots and 50% from the field and wins the game.

What a night and day difference in competitiveness compared to Deron Williams.

~lol~ No DWill, no Linsanity! Thx DWill!

(TBF, I think he got competitive the next game and won)
MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.
Thanks for the honesty.

That's Deron for you. It takes total embarrassment to get him to explode for a once and awhile dominant performance.

Never will I forget this...

A tweet from the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund gushing over Jeremy Lin and thanking the Brooklyn Nets.

Spoiler:

Looking at their timeline on twitter, it seemed to be a very well attended event. Not just Robert Kennedy Jr. on the Democratic side, but Donald Trump from the Republican side was also there. Other athletes like Shaq, Terrell Owens, Joe Namath, Peyton & Eli Manning, etc. A bunch of actors and celebrities. Several supermodels and Miss Universe. All with a different charity that they were selected to represent.

A follow up piece from Nothin' But Nets that includes quotes from Jeremy at the event yesterday, as well as from the CEO of BBBSNYC who chose JLin as their celebrity ambassador for Cantor Fitzgerald Charity Day:

I believe this interview may have been during his Asia trip in the summer, before he signed with the Nets.

So he wouldn't have tipped his hand about any potential free agency plans with the Nets or any other potential suitors. That would have reduce his bargaining position, if not potentially run afoul of tampering charges since he was still technically under contract with his previous team. Even though he had already exercised his opted out clause, he still had to wait for the contract to technically expire.

No lie, if this team is already showing more signs of life, in terms of chemistry, over the past two months than they did in the past 4 years. The BrooklynKnight was ahead of his time

The Official Lin Net Thread

Post#974 » by Paradise » Sun Sep 18, 2016 5:33 pm

Jeremy probably has Nov 9th on the calendar now if he did not before.

The silly Knicks strike again.

“If my life was done by what everyone else expected of me, I would’ve been done with playing a long time ago. I don’t really care what anyone else has to say,’’ said Lin, whose struggles on defense left the Knicks uninterested in a reunion, a source told The Post.

Lin was 20th among point guards in ESPN’s defensive real plus-minus metric last year, better than Hornets star Kemba Walker, Nets predecessor Jarrett Jack and the Knicks’ Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant.

The 28-year-old actually ranked better than both Rose and Jennings in the metric. He also ranked ahead of Rajon Rondo, Kemba Walker, Elfrid Payton and Dennis Schroder among others.

“These are knocks on my game that, when I was a younger player, I’d agree with,’’ Lin said. “I’ve improved. It just hasn’t been highlighted.’’

During the Playoffs in April:

He's a much, much better defender than people realize," Clifford recently told reporters. "He competes hard every night, and he's a very serious player."

It's all helped to put Lin back on the radar in what could be an off-season of free agency for him. When recently asked if he planned to opt out of his deal this summer, Lin demurred, choosing to keep the same low profile he's taken on all season.

No worries, his coach was willing to speak for him.

"I think he's got another big jump in his game," said Clifford. And surely his hope is that will come about in a Charlotte Hornets uniform.

What I saw from Lin vs. The Heat was enough for me to want him here. 100% effort on both ends. Easily an upgrade and I'll even argue he will be better here than D-Will was after 2012.

I would've prefered Rondo over Lin if the Nets managed to land Bazemore, or any other significant talent that could help them win over the near term (Parsons, Barnes, etc). Investing in Lin meant investing in his development, and it wasn't clear if the Nets were trying to build a roster around Brook & Thad's skills to compete over the near term. This seemed to be the case early into the offseason, when there were reports of Brook & Thad reaching out to big free agents.

Early in the offseason, I considered Rondo - Bazemore - RHJ/Bogs - Thad - Lopez a lineup I could imagine winning upwards of 35 games.

However, with the decision to move Thad, Rondo really wouldn't make much sense for the Nets. Rondo is someone who's injuries and demeanor almost demands a situation where a team is capable of producing over the near term, or there's the risk of him becoming a malcontent.

Marks made a decision to go in the other direction and build the basketball program from the ground up, affording the coach and staff the best position to grow around the team. As both a player who has room to develop and one acquired on a reasonable contract, Lin makes a lot more sense for the team this scenario.

Context changes everything- winning now makes more sense with Rondo. Building a basketball program around hard workers character guys makes sense with Lin.

Given Chicago's decision to acquire both Wade & Rondo, it'll be interesting to monitor how the team fares in comparison to the Nets over the near and long term. Especially considering the awkward fit between Rondo, Wade, & Butler. While Rondo could've been a good basketball fit with a Rondo, Bazemore, Bogs backcourt - Rondo, Wade & Butler are more talented but may struggle to spread the floor. Comparatively, Lin is a better fit on the Nets as presently constructed than Rondo is with the Bulls.

“I’m not bothered at all,” Williams said. “Being here, I’ve got thick skin. He has his opinions, and that’s fine. I can’t change his opinions, so we’ll leave it at that.”

The greats find a way to channel criticism rather than shying away from it

Let's just hope Lin can channel criticism rather than remain indifferent like Deron

Jeremy Lin and Joe Harris on Saturday. First at a charity fundraising event for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC called "Race for Kids", followed by a picnic, and then Nickelodeon's "Worldwide Day of Play" events at Prospect Park.

(Warning: people took tons of pictures with Lin, so you may want to rest of the post and other spoiler sections first, before clicking the spoiler here)

Jeremy Lin signed a contract to enter the eSports gaming scene with a new DOTA 2 team. He reached an agreement with China Digital Group for exclusive global DOTA 2 endorsement rights and with Vici Gaming to endorse a newly created team with part of his name (the "J" in "Team VG.J" with a new altered/colorized Vici Gaming logo).
