General Week 3 NCAA Football Chatter

Post#1 » by bleu » Fri Sep 16, 2016 11:28 pm

bwgood77 has done an excellent job creating game threads for all of the premier match-ups this weekend, but feel free to use this thread for anything college football that doesn't belong in any of those. You can also use this thread to brag about your team a little bit and talk about some of the lesser-watched games and upsets in college football.

I didn't realize there were three games tonight, one being Arizona St playing an hour from where I live. They had a crazy game last week and UTSA was a tough game for AZ last year. But that's probably because AZ was terrible last year, especially at the beginning of the year. Arizona St should beat them badly. They already lost to Colorado St who was killed by Colorado 44-7, and Colorado hasn't been particularly good for quite a while. Maybe they are a lot better this year, but not sure about that.

I'm curious what happened to Colorado. They do seem to have taken a hit as a program since leaving the Big 12-2 for the PAC 12. Is it just better competition?

edit - just looked at the record and I see that Colorado's woes started way before leaving the Big 12-2.

Looking at other former Big 12-2 members it seems that Nebraska has done pretty well in the Big 10+2. Missouri & Texas A&M have been up and down in the SEC.

It looks like there are a few good match ups worth watching this week. Compared to last weekend which had virtually zero. That's my biggest issue with college football (outside of the playoff system). These big programs are scheduling too many games against inferior schools. Just so they can receive a bigger payday. It waters down the product.

This is going to be a very, very good week for college football. Even last week where it didn't look like there would be many games worth watching, there were still a handful of nice upsets. For me, that is what college football is all about, I live for the upset (in most cases).

Well UTSA is apparently good again. Or its a thing w/ AZ schools. They've only been FBS for a few years, but they are competitive, was rooting for the upset. Reading reddit looks like they've been close to a few higher conference schools but are now 0-8 vs. them I think.

Wow I didn't even watch, but I see they were down by 13 going into the 4th? That's crazy.

Well, I mean UTSA did lose to Colorado State, who got decimated by Colorado week 1...

Poor, poor Kansas. I would feel really bad for them if they didn't have such a good basketball team.

Image

This picture was taken from the Rice/Baylor football game. This image is from the opposite side, but facing the Baylor fans it is a big IX, in reference to all of the TItle IX lawsuits going on at Baylor right now. The band also did a star formation with reference to former Baylor President, Ken Starr.

I'm reading some angry Baylor fans comments today!

I'm sorry, I think this is hilarious! I love smack talk, so I'm all for it. If a band of all groups can get fans all riled up, huge props to them.

Wow, just looked over the scores so far this week. Wisconsin not looking too hot...up 13-10 over Georgia State at the end of the 3rd.

ndsu is a very good program despite their level, probably better than most mac teams.
