Not sure how every team abuses Tampa except us. They're a legitimately terrible team this year, yet they continue to be our daddies.

The Rays were 11-8 against the Jays and are currently 7-9 vs both Boston and NYY. Only the Orioles have rally pounded them (12-5)

Nothing is even close to the Tigers 1-13 record vs Cleveland which will ultimately cost them them playoffs.

The Astros are 3-14 against Texas, as well. The Rangers have had ridiculous levels of winneryness this season though, 33-10 in one-run games would be the best winning% of the modern era.

Don't think anyone is catching the Red Sox; outscoring their opponents by nearly 100 runs over the past 34 games is pretty nuts.

It would be nice if we could play at home in the play in game against Baltimore. Need some kind of balanced schedule, AL East is too good for schedule to be unbalanced.

We still have 3 games with them. Of course it would have helped if the Yanks bullpen didn't blow 2 games this week but it's still baseball. Streaks don't last forever.

So the reward for winning the division just got better. Cleveland lost their 2nd SP this week with Carrasco breaking his pitching hand. Salazar is likely done. Brantley and Gomes are done for the year.

The margin is certainly small enough to overtake them, but they're unquestionably the best team in the AL this season; their seasonal run differential is nearly double that of the second-best team. I'm pretty confident that we can make the Wild Card, but we may need one hell of a finishing kick to stay with the Sox.

Texas is 36-10 in 1-run games this season. Their Pythagorean record is 77-75. What a joke of a team. Can't wait to see them get swept in the first round.

A slump or a streak is just around every corner in baseball. I'm expecting the Red Sox to hit a slump right around the playoffs, by my estimates...

Although I will say that I'm not exactly fussed about facing Texas. They seem to have a horseshoe up their butt but eventually that +10 run differential has to fall apart...right?

Lucky regular season for sure but that doesn't mean they're a playoff pushover either. Like the cliche says, it's a whole new season.

Roids don't really explain his ability to stay on breaking stuff. There's flyball luck in there (and ball in play luck, too), but ye gods the carry, and his exit velocity on pitches anywhere on the plate speaks to very good contact skills.

On the ROY, he's hamstrung a bit because he has played less than one-third of a season. Still, he could have another 100 PAs hitting .100/.100/.100 and still check in at a seasonal line of .248/.302/.465 with good defense at catcher (which would probably be good enough for top three in ROY); you could assume that a longer stretch in the bigs would involve a pretty serious reversion to the mean and still have a good case to vote for him.

I would think Fulmer on Detroit is the likely frontrunner for ROY
