I imagine this is a camp deal tho, right? I mean, has to be right?

Straight off the top of my head I'm thinking they want him in training camp to help get the youngsters ready. He worked with them last year. He's a guy who will defend them hard in practice, provide valuable mentoring and advice, and he doesn't take himself too seriously. That's my first thought.

But if this is an actual contract to be on the team for the season all I can say is... Wow lol. I'd like him as a specialty coach during the season tho. I thinks he's come a long way and has earned it.

We have so much youth on the roster as it is I'm all in favor of bringing in a great teammate and hard worker like Meta whether it's a camp deal or ultimately for the 15th spot at the end of the bench. Worst case scenario he finishes off a 4th team in drills. Best case scenario he earns a spot, spends the year mentoring, and is a serviceable defender for small stretches off the bench.

What happened to just being a fan and rooting for guys who love to compete? You guys act like you're embarrassed of what the Twitter's gonna say.

Honestly Crazyeights, if he beats out the other youngsters in training camp to make 15th man on the roster then awesome. Personally, I love this guy regardless. I think for me I just figured we were moving forward and giving some other (read younger) players a shot. But if they can't beat out an old Metta in training camp (especially with how stacked the 4 spot is) then he deserves it.

I feel like he'd be better utilized as a specialty coach. Working with the youngsters. But I agree with you in that if he makes the roster I'll be rooting for the guy. Love Metta man.

Just a training camp signing.... Maybe move him into an assistant job like Worthy after camp

You carry 20 players. Ideally for practicing purposes you'd want 4 teams of 5.

I can imagine something like:

D'Angelo/Calderon/Huertas/Jacobs
Clarkson/Lou/Brown/Nick Young
Deng/Ingram/Wear/Metta
Randle/Nance/Auguste/Robertson
Mozgov/Yi/Black/Zubac

And this is including Nick Young who we keep hearing is likely to be cut.

I also placed Brown as a SG as he was playing there in the summer league.

Deng looks like he'll be starting at SF over Ingram.

I actually said we should sign josh smith

A small ball 5 who can run the floor play defense and shoot 3 pointers.

I say yes to josh smith
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

If brown is going to be an impact player for the lakers he will have to be. Defensive SG who takes the best wing in defense 1-3. He is good in defense. He gave Durant a battle. He has a chance to get meaningful mins at SG.

Now. Can he make a shot
