Heisman Watch

Post#1 » by bleu » Wed Sep 21, 2016 4:19 am

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/heisman

This is a list which takes 7 CBS Sports writers and has them list their top 5 Heisman candidates, then compiles them for a consensus top 5. I was interested to see Donnel Pumphrey from San Diego State ranked so high, but I can't argue it. That guy is an absolute stud. I doubt he gets any real consideration when it comes down to it because he's at a G5 program, but cool to see him get some respect. Lamar Jackson is the consensus number 1 right now, which I can't argue either.

Here's the list:
1. Lamar Jackson
2. Christian McCaffery
3. J.T. Barrett
4. Donnel Pumphrey
5. Greg Ward Jr.

Who ya got?

louisville going to lose couple games before the end of the season to knock jackson out. going to be between jt and mccaffrey, jt gets it if osu goes to playoffs.

To who? The only possibilities I can see are Clemson and Houston, but I still feel like they come away with one of the two.

I think that it's McCaffery's award this year. He should have won it last year, and I think that a lot of the voters know it. There's still a lot of time and a lot of chances for a player to come up out of nowhere into the conversation, but if I'm putting down money right now it's on McCaffery.

dunno who, every year one or two lesser programs start out hot put themselves in top 5 early portion of the season, only to choke a game or two they should've won on paper. college football never goes according to the plan.

In the predictions thread I had Josh Rosen, barring anything crazy safe to say I was way wrong there.

It's between Jackson and McCaffrey. I'd probably go with Jackson but the voters will probably go with McCaffrey because of the perception he was 'robbed' last year.

I like the proper spelling! Right now I might go with Jackson too, but I agree, McCaffrey might have a better chance. Ultimately it will probably come down to who has the better team, gets into the playoff or is undefeated.
