Re: Where is Nerlens?
Can anyone really blame Noel for wanting to be traded? Or wanting someone to be traded so it frees up time for him? He's first in line for an extension, right? He's thinking about his money. And it's not like the Sixers are winning yet, so riding the bench for the sake of development doesn't help him at all.

jsa wrote:Despite Noel's passive "trade me" desire, it is still a classic wait until the trade deadline situation. That strategy offers time to see what bigs play well together, time to assess all the complex aspects of Embiid's somewhat tenuous situation, and build demand as other teams lose big men to injury or underacheivement. At trade deadline you will have much more player information and possibly greater demand, a desirable situation.
Agreed. If we are getting slop offers today then there is no downside to waiting until the deadline. If we have to take the slop then then so be it.

got to say, it might be worth taking a breath on the Noel situation before reacting. Keith has been playing this center situation with a pretty singular agenda all along. now he's back from vacation and suddenly he's got Noel making demands. no need for the team to be rushed into anything stupid based on one pundit, especially this close to heading into camp. let these guys at least scrimmage, and play a few preseason games before going off the deep end.

If it's a trade with Boston, I want Avery + 2018 BOS-BKN pick. Noel makes their defense ELITE. Throw in Stauskas and the 2018 BKN 2nd to close any perceived value gaps. They can start Smart at the 2-guard and bring Stauskas off the bench.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Re: Where is Nerlens?
If BC feels compelled to give Noel away at a discount, there will be a trade market for him across the league. I think there is now, but the fact is, Philly is being low balled because of the situation they're in. So, if BC feels compelled to move on, why on earth would you give him to Boston for their scraps? If Boston doesn't want to part with anything of consequence, Philly should try to move him to a team in the Western Conference if they can. Get him as far away as possible in case it comes back to make them look bad, which it very well could. Why would you give him to an Eastern Conference team if you're getting nothing where you might have to go through him for years in the playoffs? If that entices a team like Boston or Toronto to up their offer, then it's worth considering. If not, send him as far away as possible.

At this point they are better off waiting for a team to suffer an injury...it's the only way they will get fair value for Okafor or Noel.

I wouldn't trade him to Boston regardless of what they were offering. A rim protector is exactly what they need.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Considered everything, Marcus Smart for Noel is a reasonable trade.
marcus smart is busted I'd rather just trade him for picks.
Picks from one of these play-off hopeful teams is my primary option.

Re: Where is Nerlens?
I think Noel's statements speak for a lot of players current thoughts, so much confusion on where minutes are going to go. Especially guys who played significant minutes last year and personally think they're developing well - Jerami, TJ. Holmes, Noel & then you have guys like Roco, Stauskas, Hollis who flatlined or declined IMO. I think that confusion and worry is good though, need to humble these guys a little, creates some role competition for the first time in years.

Re: Where is Nerlens?
This was very predictable.....I feel bad for noel....He was really starting to develop two years ago.....then the previous GM; who shall remain nameless, completely stunted his growth by drafting Okafor and not having a PG.

Peace out nerlens, you put on no weight, didn't improve your jumpshot, post touch or IQ. Good riddance, you were always going to be a bench player in the long run anyways so if that role wasn't satisfactory then this was gonna happen regardless

I do that deal. Said either the BKN 2017 pick or 2018 + Bradley earlier.
At this point though I'd be willing to take less. I want him gone

Yep. Whomever gets Noel will be getting a favor because they will get him at a discount. No reason to give that discount to a team you have to pass in the playoffs. I'd only trade him to an Eastern playoff caliber team if you think you are getting at least equal value- and I don't think that is happening.

I understand that Noel is going to be RFA in a year instead Jah has 3 years on his rookie contract yet, but I definetly prefer Jah's mindset to approach the "logjam" issue.

Something is up with Nerlens.
First the trashing of the home and now talking out of pocket at the start of training camp? Is this dude on drugs or something? Started to get a Robert Swift vibe.

The apartment stuff isn't related in my mind, but I agree that there seems to be a concerted effort to voice his displeasure all of a sudden.
Hopefully one of the teams that wants to trade for him, but hasn't offered enough to get it done calls and ups their offer a bit to sort of force the issue. BC probably would love to trade him, but can't turn around and suddenly relent on a standing offer that he turned down previously simply because Noel is pouting. If a team adds something to sweeten the offer it would give BC the cover to make a deal without looking weak.
Still, I wouldn't panic today. The time to take the slop is at the deadline if nothing improves.

I'm not even sure they would accept a straight Bradley/Noel swap at this point. Boston will never give up BKN pick for Noel. Why the hell would they do that ?

This.
No way are we trading Avery Bradley, who was an all-NBA defensive FIRST TEAM talent with good shooting range, for Noel. NONE.
Asking for a Brooklyn pick on top is the pinnacle of bad comedy. Yeah, good luck with that.

We wouldn't - Bradley or the pick, let alone both. Not trying to be contentious, and of course I'm very good at being dead wrong - it's just my honest opinion.
As interested as I am to see how this saga pans out, I agree with Synciere and others who have expressed that Noel to Boston has to be extremely long odds at this point.
(In some ways Philly and Boston have similar problems - asset logjams the rest of the league can see, to where you have to accept some level of value-loss to get them resolved. Everyone knows how questionable our draft was this year; will be interesting to see if Philly can resolve their situation better.)
