Nic Batum said his one of his goals is to get Kemba Walker to the All-Star game and get Roy Hibbert back to playing at an All-Star level.

If Al was at one point a leading DPOY candidate.

He was at one point 3rd team all-NBA. Doesnt mean he wasnt awful the last two seasons. What Roy did 3+ years ago doesnt mean anything now.

It's just silly to act like Hibbert and Al are the same type of player or have the same skill set, they are practically polar opposites. Hibbert is a low usage offensive player and elite rim protector. In the 2014-15 season (the season after he was getting DPOY votes in 2013-14) he still posted elite rim protection stats (allowed only 42.7% at the rim, 5th in the league among Cs, with a ridiculously high 75% contest %, 4th in the league among Cs), not sure where you are getting 3+ years from.

It's good to let them battle it out, earn the starter spot.

I don't think Hibbert will be the starter, but i little competition never hurts.

Al was awful before he got here, then 3rd team All-NBA the very next year.

Lin was awful before he got here, then was one of the best backup PG's in the league.

Hibbert will be fine. Its a 1 year 5 mil contract. Frankly its a steal even if he is the exact same as last year, which he wont be because he won't be on a horrible team in a big city and he'll have no pressure.

Bellineli will be much better in our system than the Kings as a starter, as well.

I don't expect him to play as bad as last year but I can't see him being better in our starting lineup than Cody. Hes significantly worse offensively and doesn't fit the style or pace of that unit. Hes also probably worse defensively overall. We are adding MKG to an already top 10 defense, so I wouldn't be interested in Roy starting even if he is better defensively. On second thought, Cliff's statement was probably more of a motivational ploy to encourage competition than anything, but it still caused a bit of a Big Al flashback for me lol.
