Watson: "if each player gets 1% better per day, we are improving at 15% per day!"

What kind of math is that

Very bad math.

Very bad math.

Seems like great analytics to me!
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

At least we know if each player just improves 7%, we will improve over 100% and be more than twice as good as a team. Exceptional.

Depending on the standpoint, it is actually very good analytics.
If you see basketball as a game played by 5 individuals, each playing only for his personal stats, then it's ultimately bad math (especially in fantasy basketball terms).
If the 1% improvement Earl was talking means 1% better communicating and interacting with the other teammates, then it's pretty good analytics imo.

If they all become 1% better at communicating, the team becomes 1% better at communicating. Same with becoming 1% better basketball players.

If one player becomes 50% better, and the others 14 players become 1% better, they don't become, as a whole 64% better.

I'm 15% sure you're all 30% wrong and TJ is 120% the best communicator on this team.

My 95% confidence interval is 3 Earl Watsons and a Mehmet Okur.

Here is a math magic trick.

Think of a number.

Increase it by 15 players on a team

Subtract it by 10 players on the bench.

Subtract it by 100% of the number you thought about.

The number currently in your mind is 5!

Booom!

So does 98.7 not cover anything but the cardinals anymore? Did they say anything about media day or training camp starting?
