And I think he hasn't hit his prime either.

He just wasnt. Not a name i had marked down that i had to have, let alone reach for. Most of the mocks that i have seen have him going around the 6th-8th rounds. Sure i drafted Kobe last season, he's Kobe FREAKIN' Bryant! He was going into his last season and everyone knew that last season was going to be all about Kobe. It was the Kobe show. He ended up as the 3rd highest scorer on my team and my 2nd highest in 3 pointers as well. He averaged 17.5 points ( 2 3pointers), 4 rebounds, 3 assists. I'd consider that pretty decent for a 5th round pick. Did i expect more from him? Sure, because he is Kobe, but it was still pretty damn good!

I was thinking he missed a lot of games and had a terrible FT%. I typically don't just follow rankings. I look at situations and assess how I personally enjoy it more that way. It's served me well in football and I have only done basketball for 3 years since joining here and got top 3 and 1st in D league with fairly high picks, but bottom 3 in Premier with a lower pick. We will see how it goes this year. I wanted Rubio but needed a SG

Was he on anyone else's radar? I know they have Super Mario but Fournier just kind of came into his own and with Payton, Gordon, Ibaka, and Biyombo they will need some offense. Yes they have Vucevic too but they still need offense.

I would have taken Myles/Fournier with my picks here, so neither of those guys would have made it to the next round. Be back in a bit with my actual ones.

Risky pick alert! I'll take Nerlens Noel.... The 2 stl/2 blocks potential is too tempting and hopefully he or Okafor is traded soon.

2nd pick I'll take Lavine. No way he isn't starting and he had pretty similar #'s to Fournier post-ASB last season (and he's younger).

Noel - nice. Him and Turner were tough to split but went with clearer role and better FT%.

Nearly went with a certain star in the making Suns SG but fantasy he's not overly great yet.

I'll go with Ryan Anderson...

Hate the LaVine pick, but only due to me hoping he would fall until my next pick. Love Noel as a player and is usually the type of player i target, but just like he said today, Philly's C rotation is a mess. ""I don't think it makes too much sense to come into the season with such a heavy lineup at the center position,I don't see a way of it working. It's just a logjam." Its ballsy for him to come out and say that, and he will be considered a steal, both in real life and in fantasy, once he gets traded.

Ryan Anderson is another OUTSTANDING pick. He had a down year (or 2), so his fantasy rating really dropped and he has become a bit underrated, but he will be AMAZING in Dantonis system. There was a reason so many of us wanted him on the Suns during Dantoni's reign. As long as he stays healthy, i see him top 5 in 3 points this season.

My team's injury issues last season (Griffin quad/hand, Favors' back, Beal's never ending leg injuries/stress reaction, etc) have mostly scared me off taking guys like Ryno and a couple others that are generally on the bench for 20+ games a season.

I think if Thibs actually decides to start Lavine, both he and Wiggins should see a ton of minutes. Hopefully he can help their defense too. I had honestly wanted Dieng to fall to me too. That team is going to be really fun to watch for a long time (hopefully).

I wanted Dieng too - have him in a keeper league thankfully.

LaVine should start because they need spacing and neither Wiggins or Rubio can make open 3s at the rate they need to.

I thought for sure you were taking D'lo at 62. I was all set on settling for Schroder. I even took the pick down for a minute because I thought you hadn't picked  and well Harris just kind of fell in my lap... concrete top-50 player for sure, needed a PF, and I got him at a huge discount at #68. I actually targeted both players @ 57 so you could say I'm pretty pleased with the way things turned out.

Don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I can. He didn't start for most of February, his MPG in the last month dropped to 25. He was 89th after the All-Star break.

And to do it after criticising Valanciunas at 44 despite him putting close to that value last year (42nd in the last month of the season). Bit weird.

Warning, salty post incoming.

You're still heaping on after the fact Jason Kidd has revealed his rotation. I'm not on his coaching squad. You can say "oh he was regressing" but he still had competition going into the season from only Miles Plumlee and Henson who aren't exactly great basketball players themselves. At the least, without knowing what we know now you'd have expected somewhere from 5(good case), 6th (slight regression) or 7th (floor) value. You'd have someone you can play on your roster instead of a day 1 drop.

Certainly an underwhelming pick at the time (I concede)but it's not like at that rate compared to the other picks in round 5 it was a huge loss. He would have filled a need (%, blk) without totally bombing like some of these picks in the 5th will do (I don't know who will be a bust but it will happen as it does every year). I also concede I could have drafted a better player for sure, but at the time the consequences for drafting Monroe weren't horrible and people who say otherwise are doing so in hindsight.

Lessons learned: don't feel rushed when the clock hasn't started. Don't do your draft research in the middle of class. Be wary of Jason Kidd. This isn't the first time this has happened to somebody drafting a Buck.

Here is my reaction to getting wrecked in round 5:

Because I did get wrecked pretty good.

P.S. please move Monroe to one of my bench spots so I can get a better read on where my roster is at right now.

Whether Monroe is on the bench or starting shouldn't change that much since last year Monroe actually produced better stats as a sub than as a starter. Playing against other team's 2nd units makes things easier, and he should still get plenty of minutes off the bench.

He could also get traded, then the outlook will depend on where he ends up...

^Really good pick BW, like probably the best player this late you could have taken. I wouldn't be surprised if he made his first all-star appearance this year. :D

Aye, Beal was near the top of my list. There's another player that I'm hoping will last to me and if not, I might have to do some reaching.
