I don't know that I agree. We haven't really been able to grab a playmaking PG like Teague since Mark Jackson, and boy have we been trying.
Teague is inconsistent. There's a reason why ATL picked Dennis over Teague.
I think age, contract status, and team control (restricted free agency over unrestricted free agency) play a larger part over "inconsistency" as to the reasons why they chose Schroeder over Teague. It's similar to the reasons we "moved on" from Antonio Davis in the past, to chase after the future with Jon Bender.
