Kings Training Camp 2016

Post#1 » by SacKingZZZ » Tue Sep 27, 2016 11:57 pm

Didn't see much activity going on here but training camp is underway and I saw this little tidbit at Kings.com:

“You want to do what’s best for the group that you have,” said Joerger. “I anticipate us playing a lot more small ball this year. We’re giving guys a chance to pick things up with what we’re trying to do on the defensive end.”

And yes, Rudy looks rather beefy this year. Hopefully it doesn't effect his play.

Rudy at the 4 it seems? That doesn't sound like a focus on defense for me. Perhaps Rudy will use his size on the block this year. Always liked his post up game.

Yeah, they aren't playing big. Joerger had a look on his face like it was crazy for even thinking it! I hope he's not necessarily dead set on anything and gives everything a shot first though.

That means there is going to basically be one spot for major minutes behind Cuz. Hopefully Willie knocks that out of the park. Sorry Kosta. He did mention Cuz playing with Kosta sometimes and I cringe at the thought.

Haven't watched the video yet.

Makes me wonder if he will go with Rudy, Omri, Barnes, Tolliver in no particular order with pretty much them covering the 3 & 4 minutes this season.

We looked real bad with Cousins and KK together last year, I wonder if he is thinking of a high & low post rotating offense if both are on the floor?

I still wouldn't like it much.

For whatever reason- probably a decade of dumpster fire- I was only interested in Boogie's interview. I really need a game at G1C to get back into basketball.

I haven't really heard anything on how anyone looks so far. It seems like they are focusing more on getting sets in on defense. I did read that Ben has been working with the coaching staff since well before preseason and they've been impressed with this work ethic. In the shots I've seen he looks to have added some size to his frame which is a good thing.

Seems to be part of the yearly cycle with McLemore. Coaching staff falls in love with him in thr off-season because dude is a gym rat and a well mannered young man. Showing potential and all that athleticism leaves coaches drooling with "what if" scenarios... I really hope this is the year Ben puts it together. He deserves it.

Still think he could be a star, would love to get him in Boston. Work ethic has always been good, he's young, he plays solid D, he shoots ok. He's just very tentative on offense, and there are a lot of factors contributing to that- inexperience, coaching, offensive role, team pecking order. I see a lot of the same raw ability I see in Jaylen Brown with the Celtics, but Mclemore's been developed badly/indifferently.

Dave Joerger planning on using Cuz in the high post! Man, I have been waiting for this to happen from day 1. Can't wait to see Cuz use those passing skills.

I'm getting some commercials.

But be careful posting a link, is a rules violation.

But I'll let you know if I find one.
