So we went from the overused "at the end of the day" to the overused "definitely"

Old slogan
"We will"

2016-2017 Slogan
"We will...definitely"
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

"Coach Skiles was definitely controlling – controlling on both ends of the floor," said forward Aaron Gordon, who is arguably the Magic's most athletically gifted player. "Coach Vogel has let it be known that if we take care of things on defense then we'll have more freedom on offense to be the players that we know we can be and make the plays that we know we can make. … He's given us a long leash and we're going to take advantage of it."

This is a simple concept, but it makes total sense and I love it. Execute the defense and you are rewarded with an open offense.

Go into the offseason with Skiles and end up coming out with Frank Vogel. Dreams do come true.

I still think Skiles got the boot. It made too much sense from the day Vogel got fired. It's a miracle.

Bianchi strikes: "Magic players already like Frank Vogel better than Scott Skiles"

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/os-magic-scott-skiles-mike-bianchi-0929-20160928-column.html

I would pay good money to get a full story on what went down with Skiles and the team behind closed doors from January to his resignation.

For him to walk (even if he got paided) the Magic FO must of had some good dirt on him.... Didn't he have a nose candy problem at one point? Maybe it showed back up and the FO used it as leverage.

Totally agree. Hennigan didn't even want to answer whether Skiles got any buyout money or not which doesn't make any sense if Skiles really decided to quit on his own.

We will never know what really happened but there was some backdoor shuffling going on. We all know that it was a forced hiring by Martins and ownership. Since the first press conference, you knew this was not an RH hire. That two just didnt see eye to eye. Skiles wanted to make changes(including trading EP) that RH and luckily the rest of the FO didn't agree with. The man is a veteran coach that coaches to win now but we brought him in to develop players and win later. It was going to be a disaster from the start.

What changed the whole dynamics of this was that Larry Bird didn't resign Vogel. I don't think anybody was expecting for FV to become available. When he hit the market, RH knew that this was a match made in heaven. It prob went something like this;

RH: "Ok Skiles. You don't like me and I don't like you. It's obvious you regret your decision to be here but are willing to ride it out because we just gave you a 4-year deal."
Skiles: "Yup! I didn't expect to get 4-year deal from you guys. Martins FTW!"
RH: "Right. Well, you see your kinda of a douche and the frankly I want you gone."
Skiles: "Sucks to be you. I got 3 more years Little Rob! Dont hate me cause you aint me."
RH: "I want to hire Vogel because he would be a better fit for our group then you. So can you step down?"
Skiles: "Naw, Im good bruh. Why quit when I can keep getting that mona for three more years? You just want me to quit because if you fire me, no coach is gonna want to coach here. Firing a coach after one year doesn't look good young grasshopper."
RH: "We will pay you an undisclosed large amount for you to say your stepping down bc your not the right coach. That way we dont look bad and still would be able to attract a big time coach who actually cares about his job. Then your free of all your duties here and can continue life being a richer D-bag. Sound good?"
Skiles: "Done! You all right Little Rob."
RH: "Sign here and gtfo."
Skiles: " Deuces beaches"

One of the best miracles this franchise has seen in quite some time tbh. We were due for some great luck sooner or later.

Reminds me a lot of when Donovan took the job then quit a few days later, and then Stan was available and we snatched him up.

Aaron Gordon (ankle) did some non-contact work in the Magic's practice today. Elfrid Payton (hip flexor) did not practice.

Serge Ibaka missed a 2nd day of practice to manage routine knee soreness today. Frank Vogel said there isn't an injury — just managing a vet

One day I'd love to know what really happened with Skiles. Between the hiring, the Tobias trade, and him "quitting". Wonder if there was some kinda playoff agreement after the trade.

Oh well he sucks. Hope some of his followers followed him on the way out the way they defended him on here for every little move.

JR:"What do you think of Hezonja's defense Frank?"

Vogel (grinning): "He's got a ways to go..."

Sounds like Vogel working to teach Mario the fundamentals. Continuing to help him adjust. Mentioned being in the right spots and working on that.
