KG must have had some big falling out with the organization. With Flips passing, my guess of any significant role (ownership or otherwise) were taken off the table.

Britt implied that Thibs doesn't want him around. Apparently: (1) they had a falling out after Boston and (2) he doesn't want young players distracted, putting his stamp on a franchise and all that. Plus KG already did the mentoring thing last season, everybody who wanted to learn did.

From the looks of things Thibs is a pretty authoritarian and ambitious guy. He clashed with the front office in Chicago over power issues, he wanted the reigns here and he got the dual role. All the coaching stuff and front office are his guys (other than Ryan Saunders). This is his franchise now, so he probably let KG know about them rules and KG being Mr Timberwolf and the proud guy that he is probably took it personal.

How long is KG going to be there anyway? Just looks like he's helping Doc and Pierce out a little bit.

KG is BFF with Doc and Pierce. nobody in the current wolves organisation comes close to that.

I really hope the preseason games are on league pass. I can't remember if they were last year, but i'm on automatic subscription renewal so they better. I've been basketball deprived for months; Team USA this year wasn't fun to watch IMO

KG is indeed super tight with Rivers and Pierce. He also lives close to LA. I also agree that Thibs seems very, domineering. I think its true that this is Thibs team and things are different now. Might be some estrangement between Thibs and KG too, especially if Mitchel situation factors in (No phone call, heads up, etc). KG's biggest ties are out of Minnesota now. Maybe he has a connection with some of the pups but that's probably about it.

From what I can tell, the only two that will be on LP are the last two preseason games that will be on FSN.

Is it against the rules for a waived player to then be at that team's practices and whatnot?

I could see that being an issue also.

so it appears for now the units are Ricky/LaVine/Wiggins/Dieng/KAT and Dunn/Bazz/Rush/Belly/Aldrich

I really like the possibilities with this lineups. I guess Belly could play a key role in the second unit with his passing and range. a perfect fit.

with everything being new and a lot of youth on the team, I'd expect the rotation not to settle until well into the season

Is the first preseason game Saturday going to be on FS North or televised at all?

I, for one, would not mind him at all on the coaching staff. In 2012 or 2013 he was even offered an assistant coaching gig by Thibs.

Doesn't appear to be. The only two televised games are the last two. There may be Howl Meter scoreboard cams, but those aren't always guaranteed either.

Looking at the way the Wolves have set up their preseason schedule makes it clear who is in charge now and what his goal is. Thibodeau essentially designed three training camps. Though technically voluntary, every Wolves player was doing full workouts for 2-3 weeks before the beginning of actual training camp. According to players, these were de facto practices.

Then Thibodeau scheduled 11 days between the start of official practice and his first preseason game. Some teams had as little as four days of practice before the preseason opener. In a way, that is the "second" training camp. The third is an unusual nine-day preseason road trip that will take the Wolves to five cities, including stops in Kansas City, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Louisville, Kentucky. This will enable a long bonding session, much of it in non-NBA cities, that will mimic an offsite training camp.

Very methodical approach, no time wasted. Expect the Wolves to start like gangbusters, that's the smart way to rack up wins in a long season. Start strong, finish strong. Early in the season some of the teams are not ready, some vets aren't in game shape yet, etc. After the All-Star break some teams are in a tank mode, injuries pile up, players resting, etc.

Looks like Thibs is addressing our biggest fear regarding his coaching style: managing time and lineups.
