Your right...I was thinking of Blackburn that won in 95. Leeds came in 3rd in 2000. I think that was the team that had Rio Ferdinand, and Viduka, and Alan Smith, etc. They had someone named Hart.....man, there have been MANY MANY beers consumed since those days. It's all kinda foggy for me now =0)

I remember Newcastle being pretty good back then too. They had Alan Sherer. That guy was the sh**t. Good hard-a$$ soccer player right there. I miss those days. You watch a game from even like 98....and there was almost no flopping. Yeah...a little "salesmanship" here and there.....but not out and out flopping.

Flopping tore through the league like bark-beetle. It was like 4 years...and suddenly everyone was flopping.

3 things I would do to fix soccer (make it better...however you wanna say it). 1: If you roll around on the ground grabbing your ankle screaming death, and play has to stop....then you have to stand on the sidelines for at least 3 minutes. After all...your obviously seriously hurt, right? 3-minutes before you can get back on the pitch. Have one of the side guys keep track.
2: The league can review plays after the game, and if you are found to have flopped, you can't play the next league game.
3:I put this last...cause I feel the least strong about this one....Offsides should be clear daylight between you and defender. Like you need to be "Offsides" for the flag to go up. I get so tired of watching replays and the front 3rd of the guy's cleat is ahead of the defender. Jeez.....what's wrong with some more goals (and for the record....I played defense in school...and I will always be a defense fan) it will even out for everyone. I think it would be nice if you saw a few more goals throughout the season. If a guy is clearly offsides, then flag him.....but I'd like to see a "tie goes to the runner" mentality from the sidelines.

I think those 3 things would really make the EPL awesome.

Yeah, true that. I was pretty bummed when they got relegated. Remember the Australian Forward...think his last name started with a V. Im gonna have to look him up.

You should be talking about Billy Bremner and the boys. But even then Leeds fans stunk the place up.

Agree with what you're saying about spanish and English football that's why I had to laugh when the "man City" fan on here was mouthing about how bad Leicester are and how they'll be relegated in 2 years. I bet he doesn't even know that the Real Manchester City spent a season in the third tier not that long ago.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

Yeah, I personally like how he just says what he thinks. You ask a question, and he just answers it. Watching him with Jamie...it was cool how into it he got, going over positioning. He clearly just enjoys nerding out on soccer. Most coaches wouldnt want to give too much away....or maybe feel like the person asking the question is beneath his explanation. He just jumped into it...and that interview could have gone on for another 40 minutes EASY, had the guy not stopped it. lol

I loved the part where he admitted he would never allow him-the-player to play on one of the teams he coached. That was pretty funny. Seems like he'd be a fun coach....and would have no problem explaining something to you for the 6th time. But at the same time....he seem very rigorous. He comes across as one of those firm "good habits" type of guys. Details and habits are hammered in hard. He made several mentions about not playing schemes unless they'd been drilled and drilled and drilled. I guess this could come to haunt us some-day in the future.....but he doesn't come across as a big "improvise" or "instinct" coach. Not one of those "scrap the plan....give a great speech...and watch the comeback" type guys. And I bet alot of contingencies get planned for and drilled over and over at practice, for that very reason.

Hey....so far so good. We seem to be playing great, and everyone seems like they are into it. Great team chemistry right now. His signings are playing quite well.....and it feels very 'smooth methodical machine'.

Personally, he can be a total dick.....if he wins us a couple league titles, I'll love the man. But it certainly makes it easier when its a guy who seems like a genuinely normal 'dude'.

Boy oh boy.....how Swansea didn't score there in stoppage time is beyond me.

Quite a forgettable game, tbh. I don't think we played well....and I think we're very lucky to walk away with 3 points. Part of winning a title (or contending) is you gotta get a little lucky from time to time. Good teams tend to win a few ugly games each year. Firmino kinda sold the PK, IMO. Not a flop....but some salesmanship. I hate flopping...and I wish guys wouldn't embellish....but it's our game right now. It is what it is, and it earned us 2 additional points. Valuable points.

Just don't like seeing us take the heat off when we play these "easier games". Oh well. We won....no use letting an ugly victory screw my weekend. I start taking wins hard....and I'll end up with blood pressure issues. It was an away game...and we won. Take away wins however you can get them.

Got a week off...and then its Manure. Please come with that A-game boys!

Hope Lallana is ok. Pulled a muscle early in the game.

I pray it's nothing major. He walked off the pitch, and did come back out to the bench....all good signs, and we do have 2 weeks before the next game. Crossing my fingers.

Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana, Milner, Mane. I really like what those guys bring together. It's a pretty impressive group, when firing on all cylinders. Bring Sturridge off the bench for some late game firepower. I like it.

So far, I've not seen him do anything impressive. But then he's done nothing dumb either. Granted it's only like 3 games. He looks a little unsure at times....but that's expected.

There were times with Mignolet with clearances and such that the whole engine would just break apart. He'd throw it to guys with defenders bearing down on them....he wouldn't appear to know what he wanted to do at times. His kicks were very so-so. That has cleaned up. Im glad about that. I think Karius will be fine, once he has a good 20 games under him. He just needs some big games under his belt. Needs some chances to make crazy saves.

I thought Swansea did a good job of nullifying Liverpool's game for the first half, but it's inevitable that Liverpool would push in the second half, and you did.

Even then, I thought the two goals you scored were very poor, at least from Swansea's standpoint. Real slack defending after a setpiece, and a penalty. Definitely a penalty, but a stupid, soft one to give away. Last year you would have lost, this year the team showed guts and pulled through. That might be the difference.

Well a little insecurity is to be expected after being out a couple weeks with a broken hand. I think you guys will like him once he's back at 100%.

Yeah, I hope to see him be our keeper for years to come. This pressing style we use, coupled with the fact that our defense is nothing close to legendary, should keep him pretty busy. If we are to have any hope of a title this season....we're gonna need a few 'game-savers' from him.

Our offense and midfield are not the best....but they are certainly good. Really good at times. I'd say our defense is our weakness. Top-notch goalkeeping can sometimes hide the defense....as long as it's decent.

He was a little shaky today I thought. Could have conceded a few goals.

Liverpool were relatively poor and really didn't deserve the win. They got it and at the end of the day that's all that matters.

Swansea haven't looked good this season and maybe they deserved a point at least.

Karius looked a bit shaky to me.

Alright well after the dust settled....we're 4th in the table on GD. 2 points from top. We have a real shot here guys:

Man-Ure, West Brom, C-Palace, Watford, Southampton, Sunderland, Bournemonth, West Ham, Boro, Everton, Stoke, and then Dec-31st is Man-City.

You look at that....and you HAVE to build a lead with that. Starting with that City game....things get pretty intense through Jan-Feb-March...but remember most of those will be home games for us now. Not to mention, half the other teams will be knee-deep in international crap.

Way way way too early to start getting hopeful. I'm a fool for doing even this, and I know it. But jeez....you look at our next 10 or so games...with the way we've been playing....and if we can just take care of business, and STAY FOCUSED!!!
