Re: vikings 2016 season game thread
So Peterson could be out anywhere from 4 weeks to the rest of the season. Matt Kalil has been put on IR.

Re: vikings 2016 season game thread
Maybe I'm just trying to talk myself into not being depressed about it, but the Vikings are 2-0 with Kalil playing terrible and Adrian doing nothing the first two games so maybe the injuries won't be as devastating as they sound.

it seems like every year i'm talking myself into something with this team, not usually to this extent but we've had bad luck
i am trusting zimmer to guide us through it

Re: vikings 2016 season game thread
vikings 34 yards of offense in the first half is the lowest since 2005, a game against the giants they actually won (which i remember watching)

returned a pick, punt, and a kickoff for tds

Re: vikings 2016 season game thread
really impressed with this defense, i thought we'd have a heck of a time with the panthers - one day i'll stop doubting zimmer
he's also done a great job with getting everyone ready to play with all the injury adversity
now the trick is to do whatever we did on offense in the second half for a whole game

Re: vikings 2016 season game thread
On Sunday, Manning and the New York Giants will face the Minnesota Vikings, a team Manning has struggled against throughout his career. During a conference call with Vikings’ reporters, the quarterback was asked why the Vikings have his number, and Manning took the question literally:
“ “I don’t think anybody, eh, I don’t think anybody has my phone number on the Vikings. Maybe (former Giant) Linval (Joseph), I’m not sure. I’m trying to think if I have anybody’s number. Maybe somebody, I’m sure. I have (Sam) Bradford. I have his number. He’s got my number. Can’t think of anybody else’s off-hand though. I’ll look through my phone and get back to you.”

If I watch the game on channel 4, will it show Jon Gruden and the ESPN crew as analysts and announcers?

can't believe that td was the first offensive points we've scored in the first quarter this year (only other points were the safety)

Re: vikings 2016 season game thread
So what type of team do we think we are? I went into to the season thinking we were a 10-6 type team, but I think we've set are selves up to have a better record than that. Are we capable of contending for the #1 seed, or are we going to come back to earth a little bit?

Re: vikings 2016 season game thread
looking at the rest of the schedule that arizona game looks a lot better, but the philly game looks tougher (although i feel for a rookie qb going against zimmer). the packers road game will be tough but there doesn't seem to be a strong lineup the rest of the way
seattle and philly seem to be the other top teams right now in the nfc, i think we've got a great shot if zimmer can keep guys hungry
defense is probably sustainable, the turnover margin isn't (and that remains to be seen how that will impact games going forward), the offense keeps improving but its tough to say how consistent they will be week to week. and there is always the specter of blair walsh (but outside of him our special teams have been great so that will help in close games)
i don't want to get too crazy and go a lot higher than 10-6 but there aren't a lot of games where we'd be struggling (i think/hope)
