Is one of the best relievers in baseball. Yet, not a lot of people know about him.

Carlos Marmol: 28ip / 2-0 / 0.96 ERA / 3 ER / 40K's / 9 walks / 17 hits given up & only 1 HR / 1 save.

In the last 11 games Marmol has seen action the Cubs are 11-0.

And in his last 17 games the Cubs are 15-2 when he pitches.

Carlos Marmol has surprised me this year.
He just has electric stuff. His pitches look like they move side-to-side in midair before they reach the plate.
I bet you 75% of the people here have not heard of him.

I thought i read on foxsports that dempster was going to be the cubs closer when he gets back. I could be wrong though.

He already impressed me last year. He had control problems as a starter but you could tell that this kid got great stuff. This year his control has been better and he has become one of the best relief pitchers in the NL... if not in the majors...
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

i know who he is, he bent over the rangers for 3 innings and proceeded to rape us, i immediately picked him up on a couple fantasy teams.

Dempster is essentially their closer by default, but for quite some time now they've been looking at their young arms to replace him. He personally would like to move back to the starting rotation, but chances are he'd get moved if Marmol is really ready.

... just for the record, I know who he is. and I know he has some pretty filthy stuff too. that freeze frame really doesn't do his movement justice.

Marmol is crazy good, why don't the Cubs use him in the rotation?

Only has 2 pitches.

& the starting rotation is pretty good.

yea I think he's just fine in the bullpen right now. they should groom him for the closer role. are they? I dunno, but he's got the stuff.

Broxton - 70 IP, 83 K's
Bell - 76.1 IP, 79 K's
Benoit - 71 IP, 78 K's
Marmol - 55 IP, 77 K's

Is there a more dominant reliever in baseball right now? Excluding closers..

Chamberlain hasn't allowed a run yet, but Marmol's got a much bigger sample size obviously.

Marmol only has two pitches, hitters have seen them all season. And everyone still freezes on his slider.

Joba, Joba Chamberlain. Also, Broxton. But what Marmol has done and pretty much on no ones radar has been impressive.
