Same problems as last year though, and these problems shouldn't happen regardless of the roster. Lazy is lazy, and that's how the Jazz play.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I dislike this Quin offense, gets everyone to stand on the 3 and someone looks to drive. Old man game plan.

On the bright side, Kristen Kenney had a great debut. Monumental upgrade over Steve Brown.

It was nice to see a healthy Exum. That's my main takeaway.

It's preseason, I find it hard to get too worked up about anything. I'm waiting to see how the team looks on day 1 before I make any judgments.

That was pretty bad. I told my girlfriend while we were watching that we couldn't really make a good evaluation for 20-30+ games because it will take the team time to gel, but I'm still disappointed in their effort tonight.

Gobert fumbled the ball. Favs wasn't getting baskets on the block. Exum doesn't take a shot unless it's a 3(wonder if that's going to be a normal thing with new young guys). Hood tried to get fouls but it's not his game yet.

Portland is very good, but we knew that going in. That being said, they couldn't sleep on us, went with their main lineup for pretty much the entire game. The Jazz played more players but not to the point of getting taken out of the game. Exum looked good for the most part, possibly as good or better than Hill (missed most of the first quarter due to the Bucks/Bulls on NBA TV). Was not overly impressed with either Neto or Mack - Paige looked better in short minutes IMO. Ingles was possibly the best player on the floor for the Jazz in my view - excellent D and great decision making. Everybody else was OK save for Joe Johnson who looked a bit out of sorts. Bolomboy was terrific down the stretch and the main catalyst for our comeback with his hustle plays in my view - got to make room for him on the main roster. In the end, we missed too many free throws and were too predictable on offense. Anyway, that's my view.

Yeah, no worries, Rome wasn't built in a day. I was encouraged for the most part. Still I would like to see a little more variation in the way we get into our offense - more uptempo occasionally. Too much standing around playing hot potato in my view - you do it, I don't want to do it, no I insist you can do it.... til the desperation shot just before the shot clock expires. Nobody with any real initiative when the Blazers all have it and ain't afraid to show it. Hope that's not due to Snyder and his system.

I just realized I'm making excuses for Quin for the same things I'm killing my football team's coach. This ends here. I'm not happy with today's showing... at all.

Pretty much what I'm seeing as well. Same system with somewhat different (and better) personnel. And I hope we won't be using Exum like this (or like his first season)--we're just giving him an excuse to take a back seat on offense and hide behind the 3pt line living off others instead of creating for others.

I'm not sure what people expect. Quinn said himself that he tried desperately to get this team to run a motion offense, but it never worked due to the incapability with the personnel on the roster so he gave up and started running whatever that crap they did last year. So the FO gets a few new guys that are basically upgrades or duplicates of what you already have, nothing that would even allow Quinn to change his system to what he wants it to be. For goodness sakes, the whole time the new starting pg (hill) was in Indiana, they were trying to bring in a playmaker because he couldn't do it and their offense was constantly out of wack ... so why would it be any difference in Utah? Makes no sense.

as for Exum, he doesn't have the ability to consistently create for others, that was apparent from before the draft. Can't turn someone into something they are not. He should be a SG and they should focus on his shooting and ability to attack the basket, not this PG crap.

All you guys talk about is offense, offense, offense...It's much more than that. They don't play hard or execute on either end. I think we make way to much out of "the system" and "the offense". It's as simple as playing hard versus playing lazy. Having a different system won't change that. Our guys haven't displayed the mental fortitude to stay focused for an entire game and that's our biggest hurdle right now.
