Are there Mears Taxi's outside the Amway Center?

Post#1 » by Innkeepers Club » Tue Oct 4, 2016 3:29 pm

Hello Magic fans,
Earlier this morning I purchased tickets for the Magic game against the Raptors on December 18, 2016 and as you can see by my profile I'm a Raptors fan from Toronto who will be at the game, since I will be on vacation in Walt Disney World during that time. Anyway I was wondering are there Mears Taxi's outside of the Amway Center for when the game is over? This past August when I was in WDW I asked a Mears Taxi driver parked outside our WDW Resort how much it costs to the Amway Center and was told it was $45.00 which was better than what I was thinking. I know that there might be other companies who might not have the same fares and Mears seems to be the most legit when going back to WDW, so I would trust them the most. So anyone who can help I would appreciate it.

I thought of Uber, however I would think Taxi's would be easier and assume they would be parked outside the Amway Center, at least that's how things are at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Plus I never used Uber before and not sure when I would need to schedule it.

It's been a while since I've used Mears, but that $45 quote sounds low for them.... probably going to be closer to $65, maybe more, to go from WDW to downtown Orlando.

I have a high level of disdain for mears. You should really check out uber or lyft. Much better rates.

I was just on the Uber website and was able to calculate the cost from Disney's Boardwalk Inn to the Amway Center and it said with UberX it's between $17-$23. After seeing that I might seriously using them. Now as I said before I never used Uber before, so how far ahead do I need to reserve it when going to the game and getting back to WDW?

U can literally request it as soon as ur ready , in the area around the amway u can get an uber within 5 minutes from when u make the request from the app

Can I also use the Uber mobile site if I don't want the app? The reason is I turn off location services on my iPhone since it saves the battery and it's something I would need for the Uber app.

You're better off with Uber/Lyft. Cheaper, and people/service is usually better than Mears.

There are usually cabs parked at Church and Garland for night games, but they're not necessarily Mears.

Usually you can only get a Mears cab if you call them ahead of time. Otherwise, you'll be waiting for them to show up.
