So much maturity for a guy who still has 25 days of being a teenager.

“Obviously when he (Kobe Bryant) was younger he was more athletic, more explosive,” Booker said in explaining what he’s tried to pick up from the future Hall-of-Famer. “When he got older he was more like me, a little bit slower, a lot of defenders a lot faster. You gotta use tricks, use your footwork, use their aggressiveness against them.”

I use their aggressiveness against them,” Booker said. “If it’s a pump fake, if it’s driving the middle pump fake, jump into ’em. Usually the refs see the second contact so once you hit ’em first they try to retaliate and they call the foul on them. There’s a bunch of little tricks that you learn.”

Having a money jumper REALLY helps with all of that. When players respect your shot, that opens them up for the pump fake.

He sure does play like a player beyond his years. With all I hear about his work ethic, I am very excited.

Devin Booker Q&A.

FS: What's the biggest philosophical difference you've noticed from your first head coach (Jeff Hornacek) to the current one (Earl Watson)?

DB: No disrespect to Coach Hornacek --“ I love him as a coach and a person -- but when Earl took over, the whole team all of a sudden had a family mindset. When Coach Hornacek was here, it was probably unfair to him, players didn't want to be here, people not getting along in the locker room, things like that. But once Coach Earl took over, he eliminated all of that. We started moving in one direction. He made us realize that we can't move forward unless we do it together. We actually spend our free time together now; we're required to be on the court together, but it's the off-the-court stuff that's really made us a special unit.

To be fair, this roster has the least expectations from a wins perspective than pretty much any team we've had outside of the 48 win season. The goal this season is to play hard, develop the young guys and build chemistry. The roles are fairly defined this year and the only player with any sort of gripe about roles might be Knight but he seems like a positive guy and I don't think he'll cause any problems unlike the MoBros.

We'll see how we go after the first 20 games. This whole family atmosphere might just be a feel good story until the team runs into some adversity then we'll see how this unit holds together.

After his game vs Portland I'm really believing he will be a star. Top 10 player. In 3rd quarter he was incredible. Hitting everything. When he was fouled I was shocked he didn't made and 1.

Meanwhile NBA.com writes about "Vonleh’s Monster Fourth Quarter" and Booker's 35 points are barely mentioned :/ OK I know Portland won the game but it's preseason so who cares?

Interesting, a Booker thread on the general forum got bumped by a Suns fan I've never seen on our forum but it seems like a lot of fans from other teams are now really high on him. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1422234&p=49395560#p49395560
