I think the hype is just that he is able to step on the court?

The hype stems from the fact that that he's 7'2", in great shape, and is showing fluidity. He looks like a formidable rebounder already, I didn't see him get beat too much for position. He still has to put it all together, but he looks worlds different from other tall post players.

Bricking jumpers isn't a concern, with experience he will shoot less of them and become better on offense. The big question is whether he can stay on the court and provide great defense and rebounding against the upper tier front courts. Despite the logjam at center I could see him over 8 RPG and 2 BLK as a rookie.

Same here. Though a bigger Jermaine O'Neal is still a pretty damn good player.

The touch. nuff said! Our league will be in good hands. Draft a point this year and sign two shooters.

He looked good for a guy shaking off the rust from not playing for 2.5 years, but some of the hyperbole in this thread is quite entertaining.

It'd be outstanding if Embiid, KP and KAT remain healthy, grow into dominance and have long, awesome careers. With Joel, I'll believe it when I see it over time, but the talent and potential are clearly there.

Yeah.

dumb rule imo, real talk...he ain't a rookie. Dude sat on the bench of an NBA team and gained valuable experience, even if he didn't play a single second. A real rook has absolutely nothing.

So you are saying that me watching the NBA for the past 4 years while sitting on the couch makes me the next Basketball Goat? Lebron and Curry got nothing on me. Ima average 50 this season.

he looked pretty good for missing 2 years. Very mobile, soft touch, good post moves.

However, still has the same problem he had in college - fouls too much. 3 fouls in 12 minutes. Something he needs to work on.

His best offensive look was a turnaround contest jumper made over tyler zeller. He also made a three. I guess people see what they want to see, could be emperor's new clothes syndrome though.

Note: I believe Embiid will be pretty good.

I didn't watch the game but I don't see anything special here. I recall him being more fundamentally sound in college. Looks very raw here. Just his first game though.

I'm so sorry to say this but when I watch him walk and run...looks too familiar: I've seen this same fragile weird twisted knees kinda walk in Andrew Bynum and Greg Oden. I hope I'm wrong

Guys like this are really exhausting.

You're using "bricked" to just mean any missed shot. None of his misses were close to "bricks".
