Signs of Encouragement in Redemption Game
Blake looks more comfortable and confident in his ballhandling and outside shooting. DJ hit 2 free throws in a row; Milph thinks he'll go 50% from the line this year based on his mechanics and experience in the Olympics. Blake also has 6 rebounds in the 1st quarter. I like that we're not having DJ grab all the boards.

i'm surprised that they think dj will only hit 50%. maybe they don't wanna jinx him but his mechanics look quite good. i'd think high 60's is quite attainable for him, but first we need a bigger sample.
also i doubt doc ever does any legit staggering, he just doesn't believe in it. i'll believe it when i see it.

I have to say that I'm hating these new boxscores on NBA.com and Yahoo!
Speaking of shoes, both Jamal and JJ have switched to Adidas this season. Felton and Anderson may be having their numbers called more often than previous thought.

That must be the reason for the lost shoe episode. Blake managed to brain Corey Joseph with it, but they were laughing afterwards.

Griffin from Beyond the Arc
Griffin just ripped the net with a 3-pointer from the top of the key. He's 1-2 from beyond the arc so far. Man, we really need him to be proficient and prolific from 3-point range.

Bass Playing Like B-ASS
Bass apparently needs to condition himself into shape. Dude, has been awful for our first 2 preseason games. I keep hoping for Wesley Johnson to break out but he's still either too tentative or making ill-advised plays.

agree with the guys. a close game is better for the young dudes as well as the rest of the team to give them a bit of a pressure feel. more enjoyable to watch too

Rude Awakening from Sleep Walk
The bench has been letting Toronto's fringe players back into the game with sloppy play. Toronto beat Golden State this preseason as well. Felton's playmaking has been lackluster.
Doc previously mentioned how one of the rookies has a chance to contribute this season. It's clear that he was talking about Diamond Stone. Brice Johnson not only needs to add strength, but work on his court awareness and consistency. Brice tried to force the play in the post that led to a turnover while Diamond made a clutch shot to stop the Raptors' momentum. There's little concern with regards to Diamond's offensive abilities and instincts, but he has to show something on defense and on the boards.

1st Win of the Preseason
The Clippers get our 1st win of the preseason, but I notice Doc lecturing Wes Johnson about something at the close of the game. I'm not sure what it's about.
Also, Mike mentioned earlier in the telecast how Heslip hit 13 3-pointers in a D-League game and he calmly hits an off-balanced 3-pointer after the buzzer. The kid is a shooter. If he was 6' 7" instead of 6' 2", he'd have a reserved spot on an NBA roster.
Don MacLean said in the postgame show that the hitch is gone from Griffin's shot, which is a really good sign of things to come for his perimeter game.

ya, saw that too.
but again i'm still not expecting it to be the way he manages his lineups until he does it in legit live action where games actually matter. doc has openly resisted staggering because he feels that each unit should have their own specific identity separate from one another.

Re: Preaseason Game 2: Clippers vs Raptors 7:30PM
I knocked out early last night, glad we got a preseason win while giving some guys some rest. I saw on Twitter that Brice Johnson hurt his back. Hope it isn't too bad.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Re: Preaseason Game 2: Clippers vs Raptors 7:30PM
Clippers staggering minutes to keep Chris Paul or Blake Griffin on court at all timesBlake Griffin and Chris Paul together have been a devastating combination, running the pick-and-roll with expert precision. The two have been the cornerstones of the franchise as it’s grown into a perennial contender.
So, why would anyone want to split them up?
The logic is sound. Do what you can to keep either Griffin or Paul on the court at all times.
And, in the early going of the preseason, for the first time since he took over as coach, Rivers and the Clippers are giving it a look.
“It’s something we’ve talked about, trying to adjust that,” Paul said after the Clippers beat Toronto on Wednesday. “It gives us the ability to still play together at times but it gives the other units the opportunity to have (at least one) of us on the court with them.
“It’s preseason, so I’m sure Doc is still just flirting with things, and we’re going to see what works.”Blake Griffin wrote:“A lot of times, you play with a guy like Chris who makes the game so easy, sometimes you relax a little bit, maybe a little too much,” Griffin admitted. “I think (staggering is) good as far as finding out different ways to affect the game and not being able to just rely on one guy, but really working the offense. When Chris is out, we still have these guys like Raymond (Felton), very capable ball handlers that can get us into our stuff. It’s more about trusting our sets and trusting our movement.”Jamal Crawford wrote:“It’s a little different. It’s always been a whole bench unit,” he said. “... But, I think the staggering is good. You see more teams doing it. Golden State does it. San Antonio does it.”
