You are correct BTG, and I do take his slump personally. So much so that I drained the rest of my only remaining bottle of Dalwhinnie 15.

He's definitely losing money off this playoff series. I personally think we should probably look elsewhere to replace him. Jeff Green or Terrence Jones can do just as good a job at a cheaper price.

nah.
I personally want him back but if the price is really high, only for a year or two. He's in a massive slump on offense, but his defense has been great.

Terrence Jones? He was a really good player but he's coming off a terrible season and an even worse postseason. Way too high risk in my opinion. Someone is gonna pay him in hopes he finds his game again.

Jeff Green? He's not good. I'm gonna leave it at that. We'd be better off rebuilding.

Marvin williams is not gonna sign a 1 year deal.. this is his big opportunity. He will get 3 or 4 years at about $10-$12 per year.

Stretch 4s that can defend the rim don't grow on trees there is a small supply and a large demand. On top of that the cap is escalating and everyone is looking to go small.

You have teams like the pelicans where if you pair him with davis they are suddenly dangerous. He'd be a great fit in LA if they were to move Blake in the offseason. Washington will almost certainly bid. He'd fit very well in minnesota. Portland as well. Those are just off the top of my head of teams that wI'll basically ensure he doesn't get less than ~10m/yr

http://www.gastongazette.com/sports/20161005/decade-after-trade-rumor-marvin-williams-enjoying-time-with-charlotte-hornets

CHARLOTTE — Marvin Williams might be the answer to one of the most misremembered Charlotte NBA draft trade rumors in history.

Williams had just been a part of North Carolina's 2005 NCAA championship team and was coveted by then-Hornets general manager and coach Bernie Bickerstaff.

Bickerstaff wanted to package his team's two lottery picks — numbers five and 13 overall — to another team to move up in the draft.

Rumor has it that Charlotte was pursuing Wake Forest point guard Chris Paul, who's gone on to become a nine-time NBA All-Star.

But Bickerstaff wanted Williams, whom he thought would give the second-year expansion team a jolt to a roster that at the time was anchored by 2004 No. 2 overall pick Emeka Okafor and 2004 expansion selection Gerald Wallace.

Instead, Atlanta turned down Charlotte's offer and the Hornets (then named Bobcats) would choose a pair of Williams' UNC teammates in Raymond Felton (at No. 5) and Sean May (at No. 13).

Bonnell said the same thing about a week ago, I even copied it but forgot to post it anywhere. Don't have the link but it's still on my phone's clipboard:

"Marvin Williams says he doesn’t crave being ‘the guy,’ but he’d be hard to replace: In 2005, then-Charlotte Bobcats coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff was adamant he would have drafted North Carolina’s Marvin Williams No. 1 overall if he had that pick."

so we can officially put to bed the decade long complaining about not trading 5 and 13 for Chris Paul.

Next we just need for Bernie to admit he was the one pushing to draft Ammo, not MJ (who had only been with the team for about 2 weeks prior to that draft).

The rumor I remember was that we turned down a trade with the Blazers. Supposedly we'd have drafted Chris Paul.

Blazers pick #3
for
Bobcats pick #5, #13

The Blazers ended up with another trade afterwards and the Jazz drafted Deron Williams.

Blazers pick #3
for
Jazz #6, #27

I don't remember ever hearing an Atlanta or Marvin Williams rumor.

I don't know what's real or not, but Jesus Bernie...

Let's be honest, we'd probably have been better off with an Emeka/Marvin/Gerald trio than drafting McMay and McFelton. We possibly don't draft Morrison the next year in that situation and maybe go for Brandon Roy or trade off the 06 pick for a starting point guard. Grasping at straws here, but it's something to think about.

He's on a 'Melo rant but a couple Hornets mentioned here. Marvin's 2015-16 was something.

Good chance he plays opening night. Good news, I guess. I was totally expecting to hear the news that we'd have to start the season with some awful losses with no Marvin and no Zeller
