2016-17 Rookie Watch thread

Post#1 » by Jon1798 » Mon Oct 3, 2016 5:13 pm

Somehow since the college season has ended, I think people have forgotten just how good Buddy Hield is. For those who didn't get to watch (and how would you with the wonderful world of NBA preseason), here is the all Buddy reel of his first game highlights:

;ab_channel=OmidRayProductions

25 minutes, 19 points, 8-12 FG, 3-6 3PT, 6 rebounds, 3 assists off the bench

***WARNING: Please turn down your volume. Or better yet, throw your speakers away before playing. The sound is atrocious.

Buddy was one of the prospects I love the most in this draft. Hield-Ingram-Dunn-Maker are the guys that I will watch. Simmons was the favorite for ROY but the Sixers Curse is back in play unfortunately.

Also not about this topic but NOP's bench has sick potential, T.Jones/Stephenson/Hield could be fun when they get it going.

Sabonis started today's preseason game, as he did with the scrimmage. Starting to wonder if he begins the season for OKC in the starting lineup.

JOEL EMBIID IS PLAYING TOMORROW. That's something that has been unheard of. We should all be super excited to finally see him play an NBA basketball game instead of salivating over his workout footage in an open gym.

He also somehow managed to have 6 TOs with 0 assists in 22 minutes.

Was at the Raptors/Nuggets game, Jamal Murray looks great. He was very calm with the ball and has a natural scoring ability. Reminded me a bit of Brandon Roy.

Poeltl was ok, nothing spectacular but had a nose for rebounds even tho his finishing wasn't great

Buddy Heild looking like the real deal, another good game from him against the Pacers.

Georges Niang looked solid for a guy taken 50th overall. 12 points, 8 rebounds, in 19 minutes.

1. Stupid that the Timberwolves' first preseason game isn't until Saturday.
2. Super excited for Kris Dunn! I love that he's an older rookie. Should hopefully help the transition to this level.
3. Dunn (22) is older than teammates Andrew Wiggins (21), Zach LaVine (21), Karl-Anthony Towns (20) and Tyus Jones (20).
4. Crazy that Kris Dunn was in the same high school class as Shabazz Muhammad and Anthony Bennett. http://basketball.realgm.com/highschool/mcdonalds/Boxscore/2012

Chriss is raw but the athleticism is clear as day.

Felder's ticked every box so far.. I think people are waiting to see him look out of his depth, but every step of the way he's looked like an NBA player, and quite honestly, I don't get how he went so low in the draft.

Yeah it's quite head-scratching. He looks like a IT/Nate hybrid.

Rookie Patrick McCaw out of UNLV, will be part of the Warriors' rotation this season. Taken with the 38th pick by the Bucks and traded to the Warriors on draft night.

That is great news and icing on the cake for the Ibaka deal.

Very impressed by his handling and playmaking. He seems a little smaller than 6'7 though.

While Willy's not the star type of player, he looks like an NBA player right out of the gate. Should be a solid front line pairing with KP in the future.

The Jaylen Brown pick copped a lot of flak at the time, but I think it was a fair move by Ainge. You can definitely justify him at #3 given the tools he has.

Very divisive prospect but he's got a workers attitude and has shown some solid things so far.

been pleased with what I've seen from that kid so far. Seems like he's complete bought into what the Warriors do and just wants to do his part. He's been active on D, moves the ball well, attacks closeouts, not afraid to shoot open shots in rhythm, not forcing any action, and I've loved some of the passing he's showcased thus far. very pleasant surprise and a very good pick for the Warriors.
