Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Lallana loss is huge if hes out long term. His forward pressure on the ball fits perfectly into our game plan. Hope he okay.
Not a great outing against Swansea. Without one shoddy tackle and a terrible miss as we walk away with zero points instead of three.

Man.....I was reading about David Moyes and his coaching situation at Sunderland. I kinda feel for the guy. I'd bet big $$$ that that guy would love to take back his decision to leave Everton. It's so crazy how a guy can do really well in one place, and then just completely stink it up elsewhere. The guy lost his mojo. Big time.
I wonder if Everton would ever take him back?

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Soccernet has an article basically asking if Klopp has been a success at Liverpool or not. Well....
Honestly, we got nothing last season...no Europe. And so far we're 4th in table. Can anyone say he's been a success?
I think the guy has been great. I am one-THOUSAND-percent behind him, but it's really too early to say anything. So far...we have nothing under his guide, so to say he's been a success just isn't honest. I think there's momentum. I think things are going in right direction....but we're on mile 5 of a marathon here.
Look forward to calling him a MAJOR success at seasons end. Hope I get to.

Of course Klopp is a sucess with Liverpool so far.
He also has the worst roster between City, United, Chelsea and Arsenal. That needs to count for something.

I'm sure he was compensated well for being a laughing stock.

That's a very short-sighted view of the success of the manager, and failed to take into account that he had virtually no say in the club composition last year, came on board two months into the season with little opportunity to implement his system, and still managed to lead the team on a run to the Europa League Final (beating Man U, Dortmund, and Villarreal on the way) and League Cup Final.
Under those circumstances, he was a success last year. And this season, he has managed to win four straight matches in the premiership, with wins over Arsenal and Chelsea away, Leicester at home, and a draw against Tottenham away. That is with the beginnings of a facelift to the roster that will probably not be fully realized until next season.
It is amazing to me that anyone could watch Liverpool this past year and not see how much Klopp has positively influenced the club in a variety of easily identifiable ways. If you're just watching the table and the fixture list, you're not getting a sense of his value, and you're certainly failing to grasp how good LFC has looked when they've had their first team out there, especially when they're playing the very best.

Hey, I think you totally missed the point of my post. Klopp has been nothing but great, but I think the article is a little half-baked. If Klopp were to leave for Real-Madrid tmrw....would you say he had been a 'success' at Liverpool? I don't think anyone could truly say that. So far Klopp has done a hundred great things...and the momentum is pushing us forward, and I am very excited about what we have going here....but I don't think you can rate a guy until he either has a couple seasons under him...or he's brought trophies.
No trophies so far right? So you can't call the guy a "success".
I guess the point I was making was that they aughta give the guy a little bit before writing an article like that. Because for all the 'promise'....we still don't have any 'money in pocket' so to speak. I found it interesting that they would word the article that way.
Im def not having a go at Klopp. Im THRILLED with what he's done so far.

Within that context? Yes, I would say he was a success under that timeline. Fortunately, he's not leaving tomorrow, so he'll be able to build on his success as he moves foward.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Monday @Noon? Very strange time for our next game. Great chance to beat another one of the top teams in the league. Home game to boot. Very interesting article I found:
""The decision to appoint Anthony Taylor as the referee of Manchester United's match at Liverpool next Monday is "grossly unfair" on the official, according to former referees' chief Keith Hackett.
Taylor, who was born six miles away from Old Trafford in Wythenshawe, will take charge at Anfield for the biggest game in the upcoming round of fixtures when the Premier League resumes after the international break.
The 37-year-old, who reportedly supports non-league side Altrincham, has overseen seven Premier League matches this season, handing out 23 yellow cards.""
Yeah....I can see the problem here if we somehow get robbed by a poor offsides, or some weak red-card or something. I'm sure the guy is gonna just ref the game....but the optics can look ugly...especially if we get 'robbed'.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Article by Glen Price:
""Liverpool and Manchester United have issued a joint statement ahead of Monday's game at Anfield to warn fans they could be ejected or prosecuted for any "offensive or discriminatory behaviour."
In May, both clubs were fined €40,000 (£30,565) by UEFA, half of that suspended for a probationary period of two years, after crowd disturbances and "illicit chanting" during a two-leg Europa Cup clash last season.
Liverpool were fined a further €17,000 after supporters set off fireworks and threw objects and the first leg at Anfield kicked off late.
United, meanwhile, had to pay an additional €18,000 over crowd disturbances, blocked stairways and the throwing of objects. ""
God I love these two matchups each year. Obviously Im not a fan of peeps getting hurt, or nothin like that, but I dig the trash talk, and the craziness.
One thing I do think is funny is the $17k and $18k fine. Oh man....that's gonna stop it. Really hittin' these clubs where it hurts. I bet both teams spend 5 times that a year in toilet-paper.
There's a part of me that likes the trash-talk...the soda's flying...the flares...a couple punches thrown. Sadly, people are just crazy now, and you have to stop this stuff....I get it. But don't throw out these BS "fines" and say your doing something about it. Something with some teeth would help....you know....if you REALLY gave half a sh** about it. That's the part that bugs me the most.
How about each league punishes the team with the worst record for shenanigans that season by not allowing their games to be televised the following year...thus losing out on TV revenue. OH SNAP!!!! You wanna see the issue cleaned up in less than a week, there you go.
Anyways.....look forward to the match. Hope it's crazy...and that everyone makes it home alive and in 1 piece. As much as I like some fan "passion"......there's no place for hurting people. Just gotta call these guys on their BS. $17k prob came out of petty cash.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
40k for chanting... I mean, obviously that sum of money is nothing, but do these people even remember what English football was like in the 70s? Just brutal. They should go to a West Ham match and jog their memory. It's Liverpool vs. United, of course there's going to be hostility, and handing out piddling fines like that isn't exactly going to change it.
I think the biggest threat for major crowd trouble this season will be when Chelsea or Spurs rock up at the London Stadium.

Nice gritty win by Arsenal.
City and Tot both tied today. That is GREAT for us.......if we capitalize. Big time "sh**,t or get off the pot" game for us on Monday.

Hey Cactus...your Warriors take on my boys tonight. Gonna be cool to see how Durant looks. Curry, Thompson, Green, Durant....sheesh.
Meanwhile the Cavs just spent almost $60 mil on JR Smith. What a wonderful time to be a Basketball player, eh?

It was a good game. If I recall, the Dubs had like 70 points at the half lol.

Yeah...that was brutal. You guys were up by 30 at half. Green didn't even play. Scary.
I think Kerr took pity on his boy Luke, and didn't play Curry, Durant, or Thompson the 2nd half (maybe the first like 3-4 minutes) and we started to climb back. Trust me....the final score was not indicative of how much work my boys have ahead of them.
We're young....gonna take some time.
Have a good Sunday....and good luck to us tmrw!

Yeah, it's going to be a fun season ahead. I'm a typical Laker Hater, so it's weird seeing them as a lottery team. The hate isn't what it used to be lol. Atleast you have some exciting young players.

Yeah....some hopefuls. We'll see how it goes. I'm on the fence as of now with Luke. Steering the Warriors for 2 months after they were already champions, and growing this Laker squad, are two completely different things. The boys seem to like him alot, so thats good.
Don't worry about the Laker hate. It comes with the territory. Laker fans are pretty arrogant, and annoying. If they don't sign Lebron every offseason, they whine and cry. I personally like these down times. Laker viewership dropped 40% and then an additional 20% the last couple seasons. It's nice to shed the fleas now and then. Im sure 99% of them are wearing GS jerseys now. Sadly when your team gets really good....you pick up 'those fans'. They tend to be the ones who run at the mouth the loudest...give your fanbase a bad name...and then leave when the water dries up. Miami knows about this too. It's hard when your on top....suddenly all the 'cool things' your team used to do, become seen as poor sportsmanship. Look at Green. Now people think he's a brash arrogant jerk, and there's all these clips of Durant turning before his shot even goes in. "Officially a Warrior" the captions say...and stuff like that.
I personally think Green is awesome. Jerry West is a God IMO...so I prob could never hate the Warriors while he's there. I also don't hold it against Durant that he went there. It's a great team...the ball moves, plenty of shots, guys love playing together. Why stay and lose in OKC with Westbrook, who I don't think he ever saw eye to eye with? I personally love what the Warriors have done to basketball. It's great to watch....and they raised the bar. Someone's gotta come up with something better...until then, they get to run their mouth, and tromp teams by 30 points.
But anyways, its all good. The Lakers had a good run for a while there....Kobe is/was very polarizing, and the Lake-show certainly created plenty of Lakers-haters. I bet Yankee fans deal with this alot. Everyone cheers when the Yankees get their heads smushed in the mud. It's the same with the Lakers.
