The Knicks seem to have a track record of getting the wrong members of basketball families. Timmy not his dad, Grant not his uncle, Thanasis not his brother. Lol, I hope Holiday breaks that mold.

How is he anything like Grant? Holiday can actually hit a jump shot.

fairly certain he explained exactly which ways he was comparing the two

Folks have to remember on this board that when comparing one player to another -- there are many on this board who will expect/need/require any comparison to be 100% accurate down to an exact 99.9999999% DNA match between the respective players.

Justin has been very unimpressive so far especially in comparison to the play of Randal and last night Baker

but part of that is expectation

those unknowns are a lot easter to rot for than a guy like Holiday who more is expected of
slightly more at least

I think Holiday has proven his ability in the NBA so far
Id be surprised if Randal or Baker bounce him from the lineup. Those guys might have to do a stint in the D League first

that said, Holiday gotta show us a little out there

I like Holiday but I'm starting to favor JP Tokoto over him. Holiday does have an ugly form on his jumper, but I have been impressed with Tokoto. Excellent size and build, gets after it on defense, has a nice form on his jumper, great passer and unselfish and he can really leap and finish above the rim.

on man D and help D is what he's out there for---with the occasional jumper. I'm pretty sure he's been told don't worry about stats(except for a good shooting %) just play the game. I believe N'dour has been told the same thing.
Lamar odom, Jeff hornacek type player roles. I like everything I see.

I am really rooting for him to play well and make this team, as I think he has some solid potential as a legit two guard or small forward defender. He hasn't done much stat wise the first two games, but he really didn't get much burn last night. I hope he gets a chance to play a 20 plus minute game during the pre season so we can really see what he can do with a real opportunity. Right now he seems like a bubble guy to make the team. And hey, he did win a championship with the Warriors. He did basically nothing to contribute to that directly, but he's got the experience of watching an insanely good playoff run from the bench!

He's a three and D guy so I didn't necessarily have high expectations. Those type of players have a tendency to slip under radar sometimes. I thought he looked fine first game. I did not see second game.

This is Holiday's 4th year in the league. He's played well at times in the past. He can shoot the three (we've been told) and has a huge wingspan. Has played for the Warriors and the Hawks, two good systems to learn under. I'll bet that he would be picked up the same day we released him. We've got to give this guy a fair chance.

3&D guys need to be out there with the star players. That's where they're most effective.

His defensive instincts will keep him on this team. The Knicks need players that can come in and lock down on shooters. Lee and Holiday are those players on the perimeter and LT and Ndour for stretch 4s. Holiday is a better shooter than he has shown so far but he is very streaky. When he gets hot and confident he will drain 3s in bunches if left open.

Anyone criticizing Holiday is clearly bugging. He plays off others. Therefore, preseason games are not the kind of games where he will prove his mettle. He will show his worth over the course of the season when he is out there to defend the perimeter, and hit open 3's playing off others who draw the attention of the defense. He is a lock to make the team.

He airballed two wide open threes. It wasn't like he was forcing anything he was missing wide open looks and wasn't even close. If players beneath him on the depth chart play better than him and get cut I'm not sure how anyone would be able to justify that.

Apply this logic to Sasha. Who is older than Holiday, has zero future in this league and was out of it altogether until Phil dug him up from a shallow grave.
