anthony bennett gets leftovers, mccullough sent to d league or stays on bench.

Agreed. Given the Nets limited offensive power, don't be surprised if the Nets experiment going small often, with Lin, Foye, Boj, RHJ, and Lopez/Hamilton. Could even see Harris pushing for minutes with a smaller lineup.

I see us playing a decent bit of small ball with Harris or RHJ clocking in 4 man minutes.
Lopez and Hamilton could see floor time together.

As long as Bennett and CMC keep their asses glued to the bench the Nets have a chance to be halfway decent. I'd like to see if Hamilton has the quickness to defend PnR and instincts compete at the 4. A halfway decent season from the Scola/Booker/Hamilton trio could go a real long way. Still, I can't shake the feeling that teams like the Nuggets have surpassed the Nets in terms of talent. It's gonna take some tremendous effort on the coaching staff to overcome the roster limitations

Meanwhile in Indy, Thad is shooting 64% 18 Pts/36 and 10.2 Reb/36 through 3 games.

I doubt you will get much more from Booker than we're currently seeing in preseason
He'll grab some rebounds and play good D, which is cool, but nothing unexpected....I'll say 9PPG and 7 rebounds...Those stats are alright, as long as Brooklyn can get enough scoring from other guys.
Booker will be a positive on defense but a negative on offense..simple as that..he's not going to stretch the floor and he's not going to score enough on a team that could use more points from the starting unit.
Booker is not even attempting any 3's..something we were told he was going to do..I knew this youtube video showing him shooting 3's didn't mean nothing at all..it was just show-boating."Hey, look at me, I'm shooting 3's" kind of thing.
Bennett, CMC, Hamilton, Scola, Lopez ..all those big men have attempted at least 3 attempts from behind the arc so far...Booker is the only guys that hasn't attempted one yet

Sounds about right to me... i dont see scola playing 82 games, so there is some time there for mccullough or bennet to get some minutes.
Mccullogh has a way to go. i was disappointed to see he is avoiding any and all contacts on screens and still just slips everything. he still has a ways to go in alot of areas
Bennett is still kind of an unknown to me... i think he has talent and size but he really needs to learn the game more. he is still young without much court time on either level. maybe kenny can eventually get something out of him, but i doubt thats early on

those guys playing or not shoudlnt really effect our W/L record much. but their development needs to be taken seriously and not just thrown minutes before they are ready.
i dont think the nets focus is winning. we obviously wont tank, but we need to build from the bottom up and thats where you start... with development not so much wins.

the issue with trading thad isnt his production... its that we did nothing with the cap space and the pick is still unknown.
thad being here wouldnt really help short or long term. we won 21 games with him having a career type year. we are better with him, but still bad, and i dont really love the fit.
if you want to know the value on the deal, go ahead. but having thad here wouldnt change a ton

if he is a plus defender then thats a suitable replacment. we were 29th in PPP allowed and 30th in fG% against last year. we need defense more then anything. I think we can makeup thads 13-16 ppg.

Regarding Scola, he's actually pretty durable:

So yeah I expect we get 70 games out of him.
C-Mac needs to play most of the year in the d league. He's not ready. He rebounds okay but he plays very soft.
AB, an encouraging sign to me was how he got to the line the other night. He didn't run from contact. But he has some really stone hands and questionable bball IQ.

Booker will be fine. If he isn't comfortable shooting threes, and I saw him hesitate on a wide open one, that's fine. At least he's not forcing up shots while second guessing himself, those are automatic misses.

Re: ***2016 PF Platoon thread***
I can see Kenny trying Bogs at the 4 a little as well
Booker is a very mobile big (tho a bit undersized) who can rebound, that is a good fit with Brook on the defensive end.
On the offensive end, he's a good ball handler and passer for a big, pretty good finisher around the rim and during fast break. He should be a good fit with Lin. Lets hope his shot will come. OTOH, if Brook shoots a lot of threes, Booker shooting three wouldn't be as important.
I can see Hamilton playing the 4 as well, he might deserve more minutes than those behind Brook at the 5.
Bennett, if he can 3&D and play all out, spot minutes might be pretty useful.
Scola is bad on D but on O would help a lot. He has always played like an old man anyways.

You know what though, I know the 4 is the weakest position we have. However, if you look at the rest of the league the 4 is slowly becoming a weak position. I think It's better for us to just take the damage this season, build on other positions, and draft another young PF next off-season.

whats everyone mad on bennett? what iq did you dislike? atkinson told him to shoot 3 pointers, if anything he isnt good at shooting 3's, atkinson needs to rein him in. he did good job getting to the line and getting fouled.
