WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards All-Star guard John Wall underwent left knee surgery and is expected to be ready for the start of next season, the team said Thursday.
The team said Wall had a procedure done to excise calcific deposits in his left patella tendon to eliminate pain and help him heal. He also underwent an arthroscopic lavage on his right knee to remove loose bodies.
Wall's chances of playing in the 2016 Rio Olympics are likely over as a result. He was named among the 30 finalists for the national team roster.
I thought Wall's chances to make the Olympic team were slim and none, anyway (although it would've been nice to have him onsite in full recruiting mode). I'm more concerned about his fitness level come training camp: it's one thing to be "ready to start the season," it's quite another to arrive at training camp in the best shape of his life.
