I'm still not worried about Joe Johnson. He's just too good to not work out and we need to keep in mind that he's playing an entirely different role then he's played his entire NBA career. He's practically never come off the bench before and never been the 5+ option on a team. I also think the team has to learn how to give him the ball in better places. Our entry passes to him have been subpar at best, especially when the defender plays on the high side. The spacing when he's been on the floor has been suboptimal too for where he's trying to go to work at. I've heard multiple times from multiple people that Joe has often looked like the best player on the floor during training camp scrimmages so I think he'll get it figured out.

I'm not worried about Johnson either but Ingles has looked so good that he may steal a lot of his minutes regardless of how he plays.

Really? Why do you think Joe has played so well?

I've been pretty underwhelmed by his performances. He's been solid, but nothing great not terrible. Still looks like the backup to Joe to me.

I'm honestly interested to hear your reasons on this thinking.

I'm not sure why you would be underwhelmed with his performance. He was really good in the blazers game and followed that up with a good game against the suns. He has been active defensively and playing in the olympics has kept him in great shape going into the season.

I posted in this thread after the Blazer's game that I thought he was the star of the game. As I said, not meaning to get in the middle of this, just an opinion.

He's too slow imo and compromises what we are trying to do on defense. Hopefully he is under 10 mpg in the regular season.

While Joe is clearly not an explosive athlete he is actually a decent defender and doesn't compromise much of anything for us defensively.

They said that about Larry Bird as well (too slow), but like Bird, Ingles has very quick hands. I was thinking the other day that he suffers from a slow stigma because of the nickname "SloMoJo" when in reality he is really sneaky quick. I was thinking this as I watched him beat Pat Connaughton down the court for a layup after taking the ball from him.

Our "starters" are outplaying theirs. Obviously, the Clippers don't seem to care about this game, but it is still a good sign that without two of our starters we are still doing well.

Johnson and Mack played like stinkers, but good half overall. Gobert was excellent.

And now the Clippers are here. JJ looks awful so far, hopefully he gets in the swing of things.

JJ is like the swing man version of Al Jefferson so far.

Trey Lyles showed some character tonight. He did not back down to Blake Griffin.

Hopefully they get rid of the charge/block call. Tired of seeing a 300 lb guy like Speights fall over and get rewarded.

At least our cut candidates are beating Clippers second unit.
