Dana says it's not happening, which doesn't necessarily mean much, but it's far from official.

Cormier vs Rumble is certainly main event worthy on its own, even though I don't see Rumble doing very well.

The clock has to be ticking on DC's prime (and chin?) and Rumble punched him across clear across the octagon last time. Rumble's got a decent chance, for a round or two at least.

Those Blackzilians look just as buff and powerful as ever. I really doubt the proper conclusion is they were a clean gym. Rather, they took so much the residual effects are slower to wear off, or they're on the cutting edge of the masking agent game.

I mean Rumble practically admitted he was using with that inexplicable suggestion that the fighters wouldn't juice if they were paid more. The way he's looking lately, Daniel has his work cut out for him. I'll be rooting for him, but I don't know how he escaped a ko the first time. He was hurt badly multiple instances. Rumble is the scariest man in MMA hands down, and not easy to take down for even Daniel. Maybe the adjustment Rumble makes this time is he paces himself and stalks instead of feverishly going for the kill and blowing his wad.

Of course not, he's Bisping's next pick.

He elaborated later in the show, he said GSP/Silva was not on the table, was not even being discussed.

they just added cub swanson vs dooho choi for this event. cub (#5) is a long time feather weight contender, and the korean superboy (#14) is 3-0 in the ufc (3 fights lasted something like 2.5 min combined) and his hype train is filling quickly.

As Cormier stated in his interview with Ariel, Rumble's really not doing anything that different that previously when he lost to Daniel. He still is knocking people out with those vicious hands. Cormier's grappling is elite and the dirty boxing clinic he put on their last encounter was a huge advantage. He's got a legendary chin man.. and remember dude was undefeated in his HW stint so he is used to taking heavy shots.

That said Rumble's route to victory will be the same as it always has been. Land that shot and put him down!

GSP says his lawyers have terminated his contract with the UFC, he is now a FA.

I'm a little skeptical...

"He admitted he did not know whether the UFC would attempt to intervene if he signs with another promotion."

It always seemed it would come to this. GSP said before he has a diffrent contract than any other ufc fighter and I think the implication is that was due to his apparel deal. Now he loses that money from UA in favor of ridiculously embarrassing reebok money. I'm sure ufc is in breech of contract in the opinion of his lawyers.

That said, hopefully the ufc doesn't sue and put him on the shelf and jerk him around even more, although my guess is they will. Hopefully they get screwed here like they would be screwing Georges and like they screwed Bellator over the Rampage situation.

When I first read about this, my first thought was GSP getting out of his deal to get highest bidders to start vying for his services. But as I read deeper, it seems like he was just trying to get the same dollar figure he was on before rather than trying to get paid more than what he's contracted to. So the fact that he's a FA agent now seems to signal that the UFC-WME isn't interested in getting into any sort of bidding war for GSP's services.

It would be good to see how the new UFC-WME deals with contract issues. Historically, UFC-Zuffa has been quite petty with people fighters they aren't a fan off and going as far as to bar them from events.

Sounds like GSP's lawyer is a bad motherf*****.

You know GSP isn't going into this without a bulldog for a lawyer.
The UFC are going to petty and try to drag this on as long as they can to stall his comeback elsewhere.

I'm thinking we might end up seeing GSP vs Rory Macdonald in Toronto or Montreal with Bellator. Regardless of the name attached to the event, That sells out in Canada. GSP is still the most recognizable face in MMA across the country, and he's beloved.

I know they probably wouldn't want to fight each other, but at the same time, it's the biggest fight outside the UFC around.
For Bellator, it would legitimize them as a brand. They would get so much exposure for the fighters fighting under them, they could really begin to build a platform from it if they played their cards right.
