Davis was slated to start at RG before the "miscommunication" so no surprise that Tiller was a guy they were looking to upgrade.

I would imagine they felt Garnett would help the run blocking and the running game as well.

So they named Kaep the starter before the deal was officially restructured. Any leverage they had is out the window. If I'm Kaep there is no **** way I sign it. Why give up all that money next year? He can play all out and if he gets hurt it's all good.

This team is so poorly run.

"Agenda"??? :noway:

I didn't know there were any Kaepernick apologists left out there.

The guy is clueless. Andrew Luck is an offensive genius. It's ridiculous to compare the two.

Yeah, how dare I use facts to shed light on Kaep faring better in several key QB metrics. That's pure blasphemy.

Label me whatever title you wish, I'm not that thin skinned.

BTW, during the era of the "offensive genius" the Colts have a career record of 20-5 against the AFC South (Also known as the JV of the NFL), and 23-21 against everybody else. Feast on terrible teams, while being wholesomely average against stiffer competition much?

I"m not trying to turn this into a Kaep vs Luck thing. As My original post mentioned, I'm simply stating that the general perception of players isn't always the best indicator when you start to pull away all the layers.

Anyways, I have no interest in talking about this with you further. You have made it very clear that your personal bias prevents you from having any sort of productive, engaging discussion regarding Kaepernick. However, feel free to get the last word.

Trent's big free agent aquisition, Zane Beadles, has been pretty lackluster so far as well.

Personally, I'm not real high on Garnett. But he sure has more potential than what has been out there at G.

Was hoping they'd slot Garnett into left guard to upgrade Zane. But I do like the idea of him starting at this point at RG for development, and wouldn't be surprised if they move him over to LG next year. Haven't really been focused in on Tiller this year, but agree it tells you they don't value him very highly in this system.

This OL gets no push up front. I don't know that DEs and LBs are even worried about chasing the RB on A-gap runs a lot of the times.

I wish I'd have had time in my schedule to go Aaron Rodgers and tell some to "r-e-l-a-x," but even though the deal is now signed I'm going to post for historical purposes that it was reported that Kelly was assured Kaepernick was going to sign the deal at some point this week if the 49ers weren't going to yank any of the terms out from under him at the last second. Unless you're the type that needs to see that type of thing in official terms, the announcement by Kelly wasn't worth freaking out over or adding on to the pile of junk that's already on Baalke IMO because of that report.

3. Rashard Robinson, CB, 49ers

Forget rookies—out of all of the cornerbacks in the NFL, no one has given up fewer yards per coverage snap than Rashard Robinson (0.33). In 94 snaps, he’s been targeted nine times and allowed a grand total of 31 yards on four receptions. Those numbers are out of this world for a first-year DB. He finally moved into a starting role the past two weeks, and has shown no signs of slowing down.

When Ward is back hopefully Robinson stays as a starter. The season is lost and it's hard to imagine Robinson not being a starter next season so why not just let him continue to start now and get the reps and experience in.

That's exactly what you've done. Kaepernick is a mediocre QB, and Luck has proven to be one of the greats in the league. He hasn't made the kind of stupid, boneheaded mistakes Kaepernick has made.

Luck's OL has been an absolute joke his entire career. It's been one of the worst units in the league. Bottom 4 at best. Kaepernick had the best in the league & looked pretty good & then average. He had a bad OL & looked terrible.

If you don't want to turn this into Luck VS Kaepernick, then don't compare the two. Kaepernick has proved over & over again he can't process fast enough to read an NFL defense. Defenses figured that out & adjusted. You can't fix that.

In college Garnett was known to be a road grading type in the run game, but struggled with pass pro. His pass pro struggles are the reason I'm not real high on him, and wasn't happy with the trade up to get an interior lineman with a weakness at such an important part of an O-lineman's responsibilities.

I'm interested to see how he fares moving forward. Hopefully he starts to develop a more complete game.

Scott Smith:

Dirk Koetter said RB Doug Martin suffered an injury setback a week ago. Does not have a timetable for return.

Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is out for Week 7 against the Bucs.

This was expected after coach Chip Kelly said it "would be a stretch" for Hyde to play this week. Hyde's shoulder injury isn't overly serious and he should only miss one game with the 49ers on a Week 8 bye. Mike Davis and Shaun Draughn will form a committee in his absence.

Carlos Hyde (shoulder, out) is expected to miss just one game.

Hyde is not going to play this week against the Bucs, but he said his shoulder injury is "definitely not" a long-term issue. With the 49ers on bye Week 8, Hyde is expected to miss just one contest. Mike Davis will lead a backfield committee against the Bucs. Oct 20 - 9:49 AM

Ugh, can we please keep the Mike Davis touches to a minimum?

I doubt they go into a game with only two RB's (Draughan, Davis), so that likely means either Harris or Taylor will get promoted from the practice squad. I've seen enough of Harris to know I would rather get a look at Taylor.

The question would then become who would be waived to create the roster spot? With Ward and Redmond supposedly both nearing returns, I think Jacorey Shepherd is a prime candidate.
