SVG looking to correct bogged down offense

They're focusing on not even dribbling until a PnR or through a dribble pitch in practice.

The dribble pitch is something I've said we lacked for a long time ever since SVG took over. Because you can initiate so much actions off of that initial pitch since it's basically setting a screen and pitching while the receiver still is in rhythm and moving. Continuous flow but we don't use it enough, when elite offenses literally predicate on this instead of the usual PnR. The DP is what got average players like Jodie Meeks and Allen Crabbe their shooting percentages AND paid.

Hopefully this allows our offense to be played as a team instead of relying too much on 2 man actions that gets bogged down easily.

we use dribble handoffs a ton, we don't use them on the perimeter as much as some other teams but some of our main sets have our PF/C hand off to a wing.

there's no question that our ball movement needs work though.

i saw a lot more dribble hand-offs on the perimeter tonight, it was good to see them incorporate them so quickly.

i thought the offensive flow was pretty good overall. guys weren't really stalling, they'd get the ball, survey the floor quickly, if nothing obvious was open they'd dribble towards the nearest teammate and pitch it off to them.

its funny that SVG is doing this, its elementary practice. You go 3 on 3 only one dribble. As a player its actually kind of fun as its a new challenge and when you find that right Mix of players, it becomes really fun bball

it might be elementary but it is effective. popovich did something like this with the USA select team to teach them to move off the ball. he also instructed the defense to play aggressively which would open up backdoor cuts and such.
