Favorite WR Tandem Ever?
Saw a thread on another forum about who the greatest WR tandems of all time are, but reading through bleu's thread about least favorites made me curious which WR tandem have ya'll most enjoyed watching over the years?
Personal favorite for me, at least in recent history, has to be Bruce/Holt. They were so damn fun to watch, and the Rams at the time definitely earned the name "Greatest Show on Turf". I typically don't really care much about other teams enough to be invested in them(even though it usually sucks being a Texans fan), but that Rams team with those two guys + Warner and Faulk was hard not to root for.
Carter/Moss was pretty sweet as well, and if I didn't hate the Colts(well, mostly during the Manning era) I'd put Harrison/Wayne up there too. It was difficult to enjoy watching them kick my team in the taint, but I definitely appreciate how great they were.

We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Re: Favorite WR Tandem Ever?
That's funny, before I opened and responded, after my homer pick of Charlie Joiner and Wes Chandler (they also had Kellen Winslow at TE and John Jefferson earlier), I thought of Bruce/Holt.
I thought of Carter/Moss too, but that was somewhat short lived. Carter mostly played opposite Jake Reed. Same with Harrison/Wayne..they didn't overlap for a really long time. By the time Wayne was great, Harrison was on the decline.
You could have a lot of homer picks depending on fans...Tony Hill/Drew Pearson or Jerry Rice/John Taylor.
You also have Mark Duper and Mark Clayton of the Marino era and the Three Amigos with Elway, though there have been many better Broncos receivers.
Most of the best WRs ever in the game were not part of a great pair, they were the one that really carried that pair and the other probably benefitted from playing with him.
But, back to Bruce/Holt, Harrison/Wayne and Carter/Moss, those guys were all really good, though the first two pair benefited largely from having a great qb, particularly Harrison/Wayne.

Reggie Wayne/Marvin Harrison.
I'm sure even Peyton will admit that there were many times those two made him look better than he actually was. Dallas Clark was a part of that too.
The Jordy Nelson/James Jones tandem is probably the most lethal tandem from recent years.
My homer pick would be Vincent Jackson/Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson/Malcolm Floyd.

Re: Favorite WR Tandem Ever?
Provincially - Drew Pearson and Tony "Thrill" Hill (with a shout out to Billy Joe Dupree at TE). As lethal a set of WR's as there were at the time.
I'll tell you who I feared most as a Cowboys fan though... and that was Jerry Rice and John Taylor. People remember the greatness of Rice but (unless you're a Niners fan) forget that John Taylor was a legitimate threat to take it to the house any time he caught the ball. Add Brent Jones to the equation at TE and the Niners were a matchup nightmare. Didn't hurt that the guys throwing them the ball weren't a couple of ragarms either.

Probably not since their combined age was probably about 70 or more.

James Jones? Isn't Randall Cobb better than him?
They had better receivers....their best was Sterling Sharpe but it seems after he got injured they had a really good pair after that.

Do you remember if any good receiver played with Art Monk?

Gary Clark used to wear us out... Hell - that damn Fun Bunch used to wear us out! But you knew who the alpha male was in that group. (And - you knew who the alpha male was on Defense too... Green!)

Re: Favorite WR Tandem Ever?
I don't have a favorite right off hand, outside of the Falcons but 2 sets of Rams annoyed me, Anderson & Ellard, and Holt & Bruce.

I really liked watching Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh a few years back. Had things worked out with Carson Palmer and Chris Henry that offense would have been something special. Also enjoyed watching TO team up with Chad Johnson on the backend of his career; they underperformed but they were entertaining to watch nonetheless.

Yup. Forgot about Ricky Sanders although it isn't easy to forget him in Super Bowl XXII.

Homer pick. The original "Thunder and Lightning" - Keenan McCardell and Jimmy Smith.

Re: Favorite WR Tandem Ever?
Homer pick for me but definitely Bruce/Holt.
Always rubbed me the wrong way when Harrison/Wayne was more highly thought of than Bruce/Holt - Warner had a good three years but otherwise, Harrison/Wayne had FAR better QB play.

I always enjoyed Marino air it out with Duper And Clayton. Fun to watch at the beginning of the west coast offense era.

I'm hoping next year the Keenan Allen/Tyrell Williams duo will end up being my favorite ever leading the Chargers to a big playoff run and Super Bowl victory.
