as expected, these Fox baseball broadcasters are terrible. they are suggesting Gonzo to steal second when the count is full against ****. dumbasses, even with Lester's trouble with holding runners, this is Gonzo we are talking about.

that was a strike, but he could have let it go and see if the ump would call it. that was just at the line at the knees.

at least the pitch count against Lester is now coming up at 30. anything but GIDP.

he struck out. that's okay. he got to see all the pitches for the next at bat and got him to throw 5 pitches at least.

come on Maeda! show us your April magic!

YES!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!

goddamn it Maeda got the hit but Gonzo should not have ran for the home from the second!!!!!

two runs given up, runner on second and still no out in the second inning.

choice to be made here.

do we give up the game and hope we catch up by keeping Maeda in? or do we go all in, knowing Kershaw on short rest tomorrow may need help behind him?

Maeda in a Mess

A real LFer would have caught that ball off Bryant, but I'm guessing **** would have played the ball even worse than Kendrick.

I was eating while watching and my hands were too messy to type. I'm glad we're getting runners on base and I'm actually not upset that we sent A-Gon to the plate even with is slow footspeed. I'm okay in being aggressive and forcing Zobrist to make the play, but yeah, we were probably better off letting Kendrick try to drive in the runners.

I suspected Maeda would make some noise with the bat but his pitching is predictable as he's not really fooling any of the Cubs' batters. As was pointed out in the telecast, he's even worse with runners in scoring position. Man, even Heyward got a hit: a triple! We're almost lucky to be down only 2 runs at this point.

Almost Conceding Defeat

I'm almost to the point of conceding this game and saving our relievers for the other games. However, I'm encouraged that we can get to Lester and maybe pester him on the basepaths. Our defense has been horrendous compounding our problems. I'm leaving Maeda out there until our offense can score some runs at this point.

Geez. Ruiz threw even as Baez went straight to home plate. That run is on him.

at least the positive here is that we ended the inning with Bryant at bat.

we are hitting Lester well, the balls are just not finding any gaps yet. that Bryant's first run scoring hit was luck, that we didn't have Toles or Thompson covering the area. that Baez hit was a complete and utter stupid luck. we are hitting hard. they will fall. our pitching has got to hold up until we can prove it and prolong the game. gotta have more patient at bats, gotta hang on to this 3 run deficit.
